The Babadook pop up book

Wow. That's really cool that they're proactively trying to prevent the scalpers from getting ahold of these. Not something you see very often, if ever. Good for them.

Well I didn't get a tracking number or mailing confirmation or anything BUT I just picked up a parcel from the post Office Depot tonight and it's here! This thing is NICE! Didn't realise how much is hand cut - not just the pop ups, but also a LOT of the text and pictures are seperately cut out and glued on layers. Very good quality. And signed and numbered. :)

Delighted to hear you got it… nice surprise after being unaware it had been posted out! Yep, the work in it is fantastic. Had you been in the original signed and numbered? Or was that a surprise too?

Glad to hear that someone suggested they track down the sellers.

Also of note, which definitely doesn't help the situation:

"The Babadook MovieYou certainly cannot please everyone Jennifer. We share you point of view on this. And first 2000 are signed and numbered. That's not going to happen again." …

But though.. to be honest… getting a letter of annoyance from Mr. Babadook for selling a book would be pretty fantastic. A great addition to the book!

:lol Reading their comments on Facebook is great! They are looking each person who scalps these up and are going to personally write to them about how uncool this is. Plus, anyone who is listing before the book is shipped, they said they will look at canceling those orders and refunding their money.

See,this is how you do business! I wish Nike and Reebok were like that lol!

So people are getting these books? I thought I just lost the money. I paid about $80 back in spring of 2015 and never heard from them. I only saw this thread a year ago but haven't been on since then. Who do I contact to see when I will get mine?

Back in August we got an email from them, stating the following:
" First up, we will need the details of your ORIGINAL order. A confirmation number, or combination of name, address and email address will enable us to verify it. If it was a gift, please tell us who gifted it to you.

We will then require your NEW address in the following format:

First and Last Name
Best contact email address
Unit or House number and street, or building (if applicable)
City, State, Country
Postal Code

Either reply to this email, or send your details to babadook.address@gmail.com and we will update your existing order."

After this I gotta confirmation. I would suggest you contact them through that email address, otherwise by a PM via their Facebook page "The Babadook Movie"

Yeah, I was one of the first 2000 in the Kickstarter campaign, so I knew it would be signed and numbered.

Now I really must actually WATCH this movie! I know, I know, I've had the DVD for months, but my wife hates horror films so I've not found time by myself to watch it yet...

Congrats man. Well… for the first hour you can mute it as it is mainly the annoying screaming kid… tilted me pretty badly!

One idot is asking $5,000.00 on ebay and he is upfront by stating he does not have the book yet. He doesn't list his edition number since he does not know what he is getting, so that sucks. They would cancel his order if they can figure out his address and who ordered it. The listing only states it is in Darien, Illinois. Not enough info there to narrow it to a specific person. Maybe he doesn;t even have one ordered? lol... He states he will ship once it arrives to him... perhaps he thinks he will get a buy it now for $5,000.00, he can then buy one of the $300-$500 ones listed, ship that once it arrives and keep a cool $4500.00 cash?

To be honest, I can't see anything stopping the scalpers. Ads like this just make me chuckle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-ADVICE...943339?hash=item2a745dfdeb:g:OrwAAOSwHMJYG5K1

If people have the money, they will pay. Look at the price the Chucky dolls sell for… for something that cost 400 dollars on release… now sell for 5000/6000 etc. There are plenty of examples in this hobby. Nothing is going to stop them, and if people have the disposable income, nothing will stop them spending. As opposed to waiting for six months etc. Lets say they do another run. They will probably need 2000 more people on the interest list, then get them to pay, then manufacture, and post out. Six months minimum.

True, at least the good folks of the Babadook team care about their fans enough to make this available. I've always felt that exclusivity does little good for retailers(I'm looking at you Nike and Reebok). It is much better for scalpers.

Everything eventually sells out or stops production, ensuring the value of our investments so no worries there.

Is anyone else here still waiting on the shipping confirmation?
I'm in the UK and was one of the first 2000, but still nothing. I've contacted them through Facebook and through emails to no avail.

I'm still waiting, and so is my buddy who isn't a member here, both in the first 2000.

Just got my tracking number a couple days ago, and I'm pretty sure I'm not one of the first two thousand. I wonder how much where you live has to do with how soon you can expect your book to ship (I'm in Canada FWIW).

Mine's in Frankfurt, last the tracking shows (Nov. 4th). It seems like it's taking the long way round west.:p
