The Babadook pop up book

How long did it take it yo receive it for the ones who have it already? I'm still waiting on my tracking number :( hopefully soon xD

They attempted delivery this morning at my house but I was at work. Will be picking it up from the post office tomorrow, so excited!

I received my tracking info on 11/2 and my books arrived safely today! Not a bad delivery time at all.

I ordered after the initial 2000, so these are neither numbered nor signed, but I'm still happy. :)

Just got mine. Unsigned, unnumbered. I love how the book tapers from the binding toward the edge of the cover, just like in the movie.

If anyone's got an extra book they would let go for the original price please shoot me a pm. I was on the list for one of these but gave up on the long wait time lol. The cover alone on these is really cool looking, such a simple design but super effective!

I absolutely love the book, but I can't understand some of the changes they made.

Example.. from this iconic page in the movie...

to this in the replica...

That is weird, for something so accurately created. I can only assume that the pop-up above was a seperate prop made during post-production. I've asked 'em about it on Facebook though.

that's very interesting. I loved this movie and wanted one of these books bad. but for all the time "extensions" and "revisions" for them to make a "kinda close replica" im disappointed now. I would want to be able to watch the movie and look thru the book as the scenes played out.... :unsure coolness factor just took a dive...:cry

So…on Ebay "Worldwide" searched from Europe, 14 books have sold from £806.84 down to £201 for an unsigned and unnumbered, with the majority around the £300 - 400 mark. Just for the records sake to follow the pricing of these. The £806 remains suspicious as a shill bid, and still no feedback on the seller's profile for the sale.

I really do think the price of these will come crashing down. I own a 1 of 200 ESP JH-2 guitars, from 1996, 99% mint condition, and I doubt I could get anymore for it than when bought new. So a run like this, I don't think those prices can sustain themselves for much longer.

Dont get it wrong, this thing is still super cool in person. I freaking love mine.

If I recall, those pages in the film appeared as the horror of the Babadook intensified, so I imagine the pages changed to keep in line of how the book would have been, as a children's book first, rather than what it "evolved" to be during the film's narrative.

You nailed it. Great catch on that. This is a replica of the book as it first appeared in the film. As the mother tries to discard the book and destroy it, the book changes.

I have always thought that the prices would be crashing, but I did not think that it would be this fast. It seems that the novelty has worn off with very few books on the market. There are a lot of factors explaining this (coming from a rare book collector point of view), but am surprised at the precipitous fall in prices.

After Christmas, I think that people will be lucky to get even $100 for their book.

Still think it is a cool book, though.
