The Babadook pop up book

just looking online... it seems generally considered that the Barbadook is one of the best horror movies of all time! (at least since the mid 60's)

now, I watched it and although I liked it.... it was actually the book itself that stayed with me after the movie finished.

I guess we wouldn't be here if we didn't agree!

the icing in the cake will be if our books arrive tomorrow on Halloween! (anybody else think this was the plan?)

Book No 1350. That part is serious, will upload photos but currently busy having a beer.Don't wish to sell but seen the prices currently being asked!!!!! But........
When I opened the BABADOOK book, the dog died, wife left me and house burnt down.
Due to the above £1,000,000 is the minimum I can accept. It is worth it if....
You want to curse someone, business rival, oil baron etc DO NOT PURCHASE FOR YOUR OWN USE.
Will forward the buyer pictures of the new dog, new wife and new house once payment clears.

I couldn't resist making an offer on this Galway person's ad :D

I guess the only real way to value these are wait until the first bidding auction is finished in 7 days. The bay will be filled with them by the week is out.

Can someone please help me understand the thinking of the collecting community. Just as I predicted, eBay is beginning to be flooded with books. They started with 1k, went to 10k then $600 up to 3.5k and now at $500. None are selling and there is still 7492 books left to be sold on the secondary market. As more of these are delivered, we will see more and more being flooded on eBay and the price will continue to decrease. Do people really think that these are worth that much? I still think that it is a cool book, but it is not a limited edition and not rare.

Well, someone did manage to sell one for $1000 already. There's one born every minute though.... :)

I personally think that this was a shill bid and not real.

However, let's just say only just 1% of the books were purchased for immediate resale and profit purposes over the first month, then this would mean that 75 books would be available. This leaves approximately 7425 more books out there with possibly more books to be manufactured. I am now rethinking the value of the books and thinking that they are really worth in the 40-60 dollar range.

It's just hype and people reaching to get what they can get while the demand is there. It will die down quickly when people see they are not getting the money they expected.
Plus the Babadook team got back to me about future runs and they said that they are not planning to make more at the moment, but they just might do it in the future, so send and email to get on their book update newsletter to be kept up to date. So it sounds like they are already thinking about doing more and already have people signing up for an book update email.

Still waiting for Mr. DHL…. had hoped to received it before heading into work today :/

I doubt they will do a second run to be honest. That response sounds like, No, but we don't want to disappoint our fans, so maybe we might. If there was a Second Edition though, I can bet prices would be higher, as the first run wasn't to make a profit. Whether they did or didn't make a profit, no one other than Causeway films know. 80 dollars was a ridiculously low price for what was offered first time around. I'm sure most of us would have paid double that for the book.
