The Babadook pop up book

I have always thought that the prices would be crashing, but I did not think that it would be this fast. It seems that the novelty has worn off with very few books on the market. There are a lot of factors explaining this (coming from a rare book collector point of view), but am surprised at the precipitous fall in prices.

After Christmas, I think that people will be lucky to get even $100 for their book.

Still think it is a cool book, though.

Well with the makers discussing another run... nothing concrete yet.... people are realizing they can hold out and buy it at the original price.

thanks for clarifying that guys. this movie was one that actually made my hair stand on end watching.. :$

If I recall, those pages in the film appeared as the horror of the Babadook intensified, so I imagine the pages changed to keep in line of how the book would have been, as a children's book first, rather than what it "evolved" to be during the film's narrative.

Yup!! Here's a screenshot from Netflix! I wish they made that intensified version though, looks pretty cool,x)

Well... this can't be good ;)

It just arrived this morning... four working days to ship. Not bad! The book itself is awesome, and is a perfect complement to the film. For those of you still waiting, I hope it arrives soon. I think you're going to love it.

Yep, got mine this morning and I've already strangled my dog. I'm not married or have a son but I'm hoping that that'll be fixed soon. The Babadook must be satisfied.

1202 out of 2000.

Is there anybody who has a book near the 2000? Looks that they get shipped slowly, I'd have thought they'd pre buy shipping and ship them all at once...

Still no news from mine (didn't receive tracking number yet).

I also hoped to get the "intensified" version of the book. Those pages looked much cooler than the normal ones... :(

Hey fellow Bababookers! I've been lurking on this forum periodically for a few years and decided to finally make a profile.

Got my book last week and love it! Hoping that second run happens so I can keep the one I have mint and use the new one to flip through.

The new pages are awesome and II really like the little additions to some of the old pages, like Bugsy on the first "Let Me In" page and the "Big Babadook" line on the 2nd "LET ME IN"

To all who are still waiting, you have a nice surprise on the way!

Diggin’ the hell out of this thing! I’m trying to preserve it and not flip through it too much, but it’s hard to put down!

My buddy has 2 of these and my spine isn't as tightly bound as his which was a bit of a bummer. It's not something I would have ever noticed if I didn't see other pieces to compare it to, so not a big deal, but after seeing his I wished that mine was the same.

Only thing I wish they did differently was make the edges of the pages black as it was on screen instead of white. That makes it look more sinister but that's my only nit-pick. Everything else from cover to cover is frigin' awesome.

Seems the prices of these are starting to creep up again.

On a sidenote.. Just reading that William Friedkin got No. 666 :D

The initial response from the maker, stating that they are thinking about another run of these, most likely caused the sudden dive in prices. As that talk cools a bit and the maker doesn't bring it up for a while, people will get antsy and assume it might not happen... so I suspect we will see a slow steady rise in prices again as people try to hunt one down for a holiday gift to someone or themselves. As soon as another run comes back up, we will see a drop again.

I think the signed/numbered ones will always hold the highest value, even after the second run is released. For the most part, the signed/numbered have been fetching the highest prices, with the signed in the middle and the unsigned/unnumbered go for the least

Yep, mentioned in a post over on the Facebook page for the film. Someone asked who got 666, and they replied saying that number was reserved for Friedkin, as he was a vocal supporter of the film.
