The Amazing Spiderman (Reboot) Costumes and Wardrobe

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

After seeing those "action shots" it really does look a lot more like Spiderman. I actually am warming up to it. I think it was more the initial shock that swayed my views. I think it looks pretty good swingin around.

A few new photos from the Superherohype.com

*Also, just going to redact what I said about the muscle shading AND the red and blue being separate fabric. Even though the bricks themselves don't look deformed... from this picture it definitely looks like the lycra has a hint of it. You can also make out some of the elements of the new pattern (fabric reflection creates a slightly different color where different pieces lay) IE, look at the shoulder. It appears that red and blue are all one piece. Between that and the shading I guess it's dye-sub again :[
*sigh*

And for the record, I see Spider-man web slinging here. Think of it like reticulation... the red-blue is still there, and it is in the spots where it makes him undeniably Spiderman. Maybe the costume has some more 'implied lines' than it did before... But this is still Spidey to me.

To tell you the truth even though I'm not a real big fan of the "New" suit, as long as the story is as horrible as the last 3 Spider-man movies I won't complain.

Agreed, those swinging shots kind of make me forget about the few problems I had with the suit initially. I'm so glad they don't have a huge budget, it just kind of keeps them in line as far as only using CGI when completely necessary.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I'd bet that CGI would be cheaper than setting up those real stunts.

CG work is getting cheaper and cheaper. Running a big location set with a full stunt team and crew is pricey stuff!

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Not true because you would either have to:

A) film the actual location anyway and insert the CGI

or

B) fully construct the cityscape needed for the shots which takes a lot of man hours and research.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Shooting BG plates is much easier than trying to catch a specific stunt performance.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Only if you want your shots completely devoid of cars and bystanders. In which case you'd need to digitally add those too.

If you shoot with all your elements including the extras and vehicles on location a stunt team isn't much of an added expense and then you know the shot is done.

I don't budget major motion pictures, so I guess I am just blowing smoke out my ass but I'm amazed how much money gets eaten up so quickly on a big shoot. I've worked on a few commercials and it's crazy to see the money just evaporate. That's a lot of expensive people and expensive equipment to run a big location like that.

I'd love to know what the real costs would be on a cg action sequence versus it's real life version.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

CG costs much more as far as I know. I think it's not so much the cg itself, but the multiple shots needed to complete the composite scene/stunt in the end. Take for instance the budget on the old movies. All between 170-300 million a piece; this one, however, around 80 million, and the change from CG effects shots to live action is VERY noticeable.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Come back Nick Hammond, all is forgiven.
This suit, and the gait/build of the character is wrong on so many levels.

Agreed! People may have been sick of Tobey McGuire's whining, but at least the suit was true to the comic and fans! This is beyond bad!

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I liked the Raimi suit, but i didnt love it, looked too expensive for a broke young man such as Parker, maybe it was the raised webbing in silver or whatever, just didnt bowl me over.
Still, it looked more true to the comic, than this ****** creation of Ballet shoes and weird tinkered design.
Oh and again, i cant even be bothered to look up his name, but he may make a good Peter, but build wise, he is a galaxy wide of making a convincing Spidey.

Yup, raised webbing looked a little too structured. Nothing wrong with printed webbing! This new costume looks like a weird warm-up suit.

Why? In many interpretations, Spidey isn't very bulky. I actually prefer the slimmer Spidey. I've never been a fan of the bulky/overly muscular versions because it makes him look much less agile.

I agree, just because looking back on some of the older comics, he still looks like a kid in the costume. I think as he aged it was more appropriate to have him be more muscular.

Did i mention i wanted the hulk in a spidey suit? NO. Sorry, but this lad is TOO gangly for me, its called personal taste ya see! Bulk, is for Venom, Spidey, a bit more athletic than what im seeing here.

Oh, and the new suit, still not growing on me, the first darkened shot without mask, i kinda liked, the daylight shots with mask and silver Ballet slippers........Manga gimp suit.
