Wow!

That incredibly prescient.

What's ironic is that it looks like that version in the comic is Peter's "ugly first attempt" at the spider-man costume that he wore to the wrestling match.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

hey nick where did you find that picture of the wrestling suit? do you know which comic it is from?

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Though I think I also like the 'old' movie costume more, this one (more than any other version) airs 'home made' suit, and something a kid from 2011 might make.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Ok. It's crazy to me that the people on this forum are complaining about the reality of the quality of what can be home made... Seriously?!? You guy KNOW what can be homeade. I have seen working wolverine claws and a transforming bumble bee, but you aren't convinced that a fictional superpowered teen could make a spandex suit. All the while fawning over the possibility that he COULD make webshooters!

So which is it??? Can he or can he not make homemade stuff? Pajamas or webshooters?

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

am i the only one that realy likes this suit?

Nope! I like it. I actually really like the strong deviations from the previous suit. The fact of the matter is that no matter how much they change it, it is still iconic. It could just be red and blue and people would still know what it is. There's nothing wrong with a bit artistic deviation. I think it just look more badass now ( really, no emphasis on the 'ass' ) instead of spandex. The best thing about the suit is that there will be minimal to none of this.

... which we already know from the slash marks ( sans actual injury ) on new-Spidey's chest.

Sorry, but I would not fight supervillains in puff-painted leotard. And any other 'hero' who attempts to ( and does not have super armor/regenerating type skin ) bugs me as much as girls running into a dead end from axe murderers in horror movies.

100pts for new Spidey!

I think another great aspect of the new suit is that in being actually useful and having the appearance of such, it gives the film an aspect of realism that wasn't there before. I get it, comic lovers love the original design, but it's dated and nowadays can easily be seen as campy. Minimizing the camp-factor, I feel, will maximize the interest among non-fans. And old fans will probably still see it anyways. They're doing the same thing with Thor and Captain America, they've got a much more organic and real-world-fighting look as opposed to the comic book designs.

I think the evolution of design for the modern superhero movies is a must to keep them relevant to more than just a niche audience. I love fantasy and sci fi movies and would hate to see the too-good-for-that people of this generation missing out on such films because it 'looks like a kid movie'. Was there this much kerfuffle when Batman outgrew his spandex? ( aside from the nipple suit... and hey, speaking of which...with that in mind, it could always be worse for Spidey. Haha )

I may be WAY out in left field here, but from the images and the whole idea of them rebooting the franchise, I'm feeling they're trying to go more Dark Knight style with this one. And I have absolutely no problem with spinning this story into a slightly darker and more mature take.

At the very WORST, it's a breath of new life into a fan-loved character movie franchise that had previously ended it's own life via disco. :lol

edit: Just another thought... could the fact that that comic picture surfaced amidst all the controversy in reference to the new suit possibly be ( very obviously ) hinting to the fact that because this reboot spends more time on the very early start of Spidey ( before MJ and apparently he doesn't even work for the paper yet? ) that this will be the FIRST suit shown in the series of films ( 'cause we all know there'll be more )? As it then should be, right? Would that then be acceptable to the purists? I mean, I know you have to stare at Peter's 'first attempt' suit more than you'd like, but is it redeemed by the fact that they're delving into the story in much more detail and time?

haha well damn, that sums it up pretty perfectly! :lol
ive been reading the spiderman comics since i was like 3 and probably have a hundred or so of them ranging from the 60's comics all the way up to the ultimate series and the costume is always changing a little from artist to artist so i just see this as another artists design of what he thinks he should look like. i cant wait for the movie to come out!

Well put. I really don't have a doubt in my mind that the majority of the people trash talking this costume now will be attempting to replicate it come the release of the film.
When the Dark Knight Batsuit was first shown, people bitched just as much, but when the movie came out and wowed everyone, for most it became an amazing suit.
I completely understand the anger towards the new suit, but give the movie a chance before you let something this insignificant decide how good it will be overall.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

actually i could dig the suit but i guess i was hoping for big white eyes and when i saw the photos of not big white eyes my wittle heart heart was crushed but either way im still gonna see the movie haha

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Being a Spider-Man purist and a fan since I was 4 years old, this is utter CRAP. I cannot believe they changed it this much,

I'm not a Spider-Man purist. First time I properly became aware of Spider-Man was in the Tobey Maguire movies. I knew it was a comic series, but I'm not into reading comics.

I see a stretchy, tight red and blue suit with a spider motif and a mask. Pretty much sums up what a Spider-Man suit is to me. I'm sure other non-purists will feel the same.

Nope! I like it. I actually really like the strong deviations from the previous suit. The fact of the matter is that no matter how much they change it, it is still iconic. Yeah, my thoughts exactly.

Very true. This one looks as if it has a bit of protection to it.

Exactly.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I like the new costume and texture. It makes me belive the texure of the suit may be made from his own web. It does however look a bit more durable and "rubber protective" than a spandex suit. I also like the wrist spiderweb slinger he cary on his left hand.

Some photos of other variations:

Now last the incredible talented Miles Teves: I am sure this is the inspiration behind the suit.

Also i like the webslinger. But i belive its a extention of Peters arm. Not a mecanical in it self.

Yep. It's the wrestling suit in the comic "Spiderman: With Great Power".
I don't mind it...except for the belt being missing.
