I didn't like the suit in the first franchise because that's what it looked like to me and it looked dumb seeing a 'hero' fighting in it. I didn't even say it looked bad. I basically said " this is what I didn't like and this is why ", which is a lot more fair to the costume designer than just calling it 'bad' and 'a change for the sake of it to the detriment of the design' as you are with this one.
This brings me to another point though. In an attempt to stray away from JUST printed leotard, the first suit had texture and some tweaks. This then made it an original take. Being an independent reboot, they could not use the same thing. Also, being an independent reboot, how exciting would it have been if it looked exactly the same as that one?? I'm no costume designer, but I can't see how many different ways you can acceptably deviate and make an alternate to a printed zentai jumper without upsetting
some fans.
Which brings me back to my other point...
this suit, looks almost exactly the same as the wrestling one, with some more interesting texture. And I'd just like to re-iterate that it's already been said that this reboot is focusing more on the beginnings of Spiderman. And I'm sure Hollywood is
very confident it's going to bank and continue on with a sequel or two. And this being the beginning chapter, just like in the comics where he had the wrestling suit, it's the one we're seeing here. I have a very, VERY strong feeling that this will be the first suit of a few, as it technically, chronologically should be. Heck, maybe it's only the first suit in this film!!
Anyways, I'm still Team New Spiderman.
Oh, and also in an attempt to possibly garner a different/more widespread audience, from a female POV, aside from fitting the skinny, geeky profile, this guy is WAY ( scratch that...just googled him for more... ), slightly easier on the eyes than Toby. But from what I've seen/heard many other ladies think much, much better of him than I.
