The Amazing Spiderman (Reboot) Costumes and Wardrobe

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I'll post these close-ups for posterity as well: The squares that form the negative space in the webbing are pretty interesting. They seem way more 3-dimensional than a standard Silk-screen...

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

On the blue, it looks like a mesh, layed over the fabric maybe? Like a sportswear liner?
Im liking the gloves and web shooters too. I want one!

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

The official photo looks much better than the on set shots (of course) but I do agree that the webbing on the suit being replaced with the grid is still a little disapointing. I'm a die hard Spidey fan and will see the movie for sure, but I personally would have liked to have seen the webbing present.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Looking at the mask, the webbing, seems to have rubbed off, revealing red in places?
Wonder if its molded item...like a rubber or latex?

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

It looks like the blue sections were made in the same way as the symbiote suit from Spider-Man 3, with the shiny brick pattern. The red sections look like pieces of urethane or silicone overlays. Definately not basketballs, though. :lol
The boots seem to be the only seperate pieces of the costume, not counting any specialty costumes for 'removing the mask' scenes and stuff like that. The suit definately bunches up more than Tobey's ever did.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Hey, did anyone notice the pads on his fingertips? They look like target-shapes. Could these be a new techy way for spiderman to climb up walls? Hmmmmmm......

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

How do we know this isn't just Andrew Garfield in his own clothes? This pic could have been taken before or after shooting. He's clearly standing by trailers, so this isn't "on set." I'll accept this could easily be Peter Parker wardrobe, but there's a chance it's not.

I had assumed he was indeed costumed as Peter Parker given not only the description that he was "filming on set", but the fact that he is wearing the same jeans and belt as the previous set of pictures we saw of him as Parker.

...Still looking for those shoes. lol.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Funny how this always happens...
70% of the board tears something new to shreds until they see it "properly displayed". Drives me NUTS

That's not really fair though, is it? If by "properly displayed" you mean deliberately hiding every element that people have complained about in order to generate a bit of positive buzz about his look, I agree with that description! This isn't just the lighting or even the carefully selected pose - they cropped and photoshopped sections that fans have found objectionable.

Of course he looks great here - no missing belt, no red stripes down his legs, no real look at the chest spider, no crummy back spider crammed up into an akward notch across the shoulders, and most importantly: no silver running shoes cluttering up the feet. They did everything possible to make this look as much like the traditional suit and as little like their variation on it as they could. Can't fault people for responding positively to this image even if they don't like seeing the actual suit in its entirety. I really dislike the suit, but made a wonderful desktop image outta this pic!

I do like the mask...

It just doesn't make sense to me that people would change their mind about the costume itself based on the quality of photography.
...the subjective opinion on something based on how it's presented.

Hence all the sudden 'converts' because the suit suddenly is "presented to look good". But it is exactly the same?

On the flip side, I don't know why people don't look at pre-pro pictures with a grain of salt and realize that it just might look good up close or on film... reserving the salt in the wound to see if it might be cool later.
-Like I said, the EXACT same thing happened with the TDK mesh suit.
--Purists were horrified by the costume design until they saw it in action. Why wouldn't people have the foresight to not be horrified on the first viewing? I don't know...
--By the same reasoning, people who didn't like the suit at the start (if they were being subjective) still shouldn't like the suit no matter how polished the presentation. Some guys who hated TDK suit after the first picture still hate the design of it. :\

Lol, I guess I'm just ranting about 'flip-floppers'. Sorry :lol

We're not saying the same thing at all though. It's not about the quality of photography, but about what they hid. Every single aspect of the suit that people railed against - with the exception of the fingers - is obscured in this photograph. The feet weren't even in the dark; they photoshopped black over them! The people who hate this suit for all the stuff that sucks about it - I'm one of them - can still hate the stuff that sucks and enjoy this picture, which deliberately shows none of it. I hate this costume, and like this picture. If only they could hide those crummy elements for the duration of the movie.

Yep, I noticed and wondered about it.
Could our re-booted Peter Parker only gain stregth, agility, and spider sense from the bite? Will he need to fend for himself with regards to web-shooters and wall climbing ability?
Inquiring minds want to know..

This is a concept you actually find hard to understand?

All we had to base our opinions on were poor quality spy pics taken from 20 feet away and now we have an actual high resolution, accurate representation of how the costume will look on film.

If someone posted images of their costume taken with a crappy webcam in the dark and then suddenly posted an expertly lit studio shot you don't think you might have a different opinion after seeing the latter?

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Please tell me it wasn't just me that saw this as I scrolled down?

Although I do actually think the costume is looking pretty cool... I guess looking at it at least twice a day for the last few weeks or so has got me used to it!
