The Amazing Spiderman (Reboot) Costumes and Wardrobe

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Get those shoes yet? I'm interested on seeing what you came up with. Better, do you have the link?

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Jawafive, not yet. They are supposed to come today. (UPS runs late here)
Once they arrive I'll take some shots, and post the info here if it is not only the correct style, but modifiable.
(As the shoes I found are not a traditional shoe, they would HAVE to be modified to some extent)

*Bumped from page 12*
Well this tells us where the zipper is:
Good shot of the boot zippers and shoes too... (I see what looks like some material bunching underneath the boot at the ankles, if that's the blue from the costume, perhaps the boots are separate and the costume is a unitard?
I really like the design of the new back panel

So the idea of stunt lenses aren't so far off... these look like a traditional vacformed lense and they are obviously removable.
That means they are using a magnetic shell for sure.
(You can see the muscle shading pretty well here. I still don't think there is any deformation in the bricks though...)

And a pretty good look at the new chest spider:

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

It would actually make more sense that Spidey got a costume like that provided by a Wrestling promotion then throwing it together in his room at Aunt May's house. Of course that would mean the wrestling promoter would have a pretty good idea of who Spidey is.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Nice, that one wasn't on the SuperHeroHype

I'd say that all in all this is enough reference to start working :love

Agreed, it shouldn't be too long now before we see some replicas popping up.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

i think the webbing's just more pronounced there. but looking at the boot portion made me realise this in this picture:

spideyonlocation7.jpg

can you see the slight shaddow at the top of the boot? i think that spidey will have actual boots in this movie, and on closer inspection of other photos< i think there may be a zipper on the inside of the boot leg.

I really don't like it. Honestly? Because I want to see a movie where Peter parker is a poor broke college kid, not someone who apparently has LOTS of time and funds to throw at his costume.

I honestly would prefer a shabby costume, and then spidey being so stealthy and quick that no one gets a clear look at him, and all the ARTISTS RENDITION pics in the paper are laughably cooler than the real one.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I dont think those are off the shelf boots in any case.

First I shall quote you, and then chuckle!

I HAVE found the shoe guys... I just wanted to make sure everybody knew it was me :lol
Praise me!

Anywho, I give you, Spiderman's new shoes:

The ıASICS- GEL Dirt Dog 3: A light weight cross-country track & field shoe.
The Red/Black/Silver scheme is what you're looking for, I got mine from Amazon... and they're not too expensive!

"Obviously... this means that I was right about the silver feature, it IS built in. I used the sole, and the silver accent to pour through shoe pictures online and ID the shoe", Tsuyosa said smugly.... haha

Regarding preparing the shoe for attaching the upper, it appears like it would be pretty easy. The cleats on the bottom are removable, and even though the spike holes are still there, it is rather easy to walk in. (They are VERY comfortable btw) I imagine that to get to screen accuracy all I'd really have to do is sand down the existing sole, and then put down a smooth layer of leather. The graphics on the side come off nicely

*Note*-I used a seam ripper... I would NOT recommend using anything else! The thread used in this shoe is very durable, and using anything else might be hazardous if not for lack of control of a different kind of tool)

I am uncertain as to whether the tongue was removed or not... I'll need to inspect some closer pictures of the spidey boots to determine that.

Here are pictures of my shoes... one of them I have already begun modifying.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Good catch. Funny enough, being a track runner myself I thought track spikes when I saw the shot of the sole but never checked. Glad someone did though! I'm very surprised they decided to add spikes to that shoe with such a thick heel sole, I suppose they are meant to have the option of running without the spikes as oppose to a short/middle distance cleat.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Great catch Tsuyosa!
Aside from some coloring areas in the soles and lower portions, I can't see a difference in the design of the lower area.

It appears that pretty much everything above the "silver" attached to the lowers going up to back of the sole was removed and then the upper "boot" was sewn into the lower with the remaining colors on the lowers dyed/painted to match the uppers and the rest of the suit.

With that type of form fitting boot, I've never seen anybody keep the tongue in place. It distorts the contours or "line" of the front of the foot too much and they are simply not necessary to begin with since they zip up the side and are made to the size of the person wearing them.

I have a couple of form-fitting comic style "boots" made this way using "off the shelf" shoes as the base. They were made this way or with the tops going over the entire bottom shoe itself. In either case, the tongue would've taken away from the form fitted look that was needed IMO.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Aaron you'd be right, this shoe is technically billed as a cross-country cleat, meant for track and off-road surfaces. (Hence I wouldn't recommend anybody try and wear this as a daily runner).
I have some nike track shoes and the heel is about half as thick... great for the 100; Terrible to walk anywhere else in, lol.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

That is an extremely good find Tsuyosa! Well done. It looks to me like only the very bottom of the shoe was used, i.e., anything below the silver accents on the lower sides. I suppose this means we have some more proof that the costume was intended to appear as though Peter could have created it with purchased items.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I have to be honest, I am a Spider-Man purist since this was the first Super Hero I ever liked as a child. The more photos I see of this thing, the more I want to puke. What the heck is with the black codpiece area now? I swear it just keeps getting worse. Are they just going to CGI the heck out of this thing?
