The 2009 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest.

I'm around the 2/3 point some parts done the rest still sorta in the progress of. I'm banking on Sunday to get a good deal finished up.

I was trapped in the house all day last Wednesday and had a marathon saber session. Got every thing done but pictures. Best rainy day ever.

Hoping to finish up this weekend. I still have $8 in my budget so another trip to the dollar store will be in order!

i'm the same, total cost of bits was £11, only used £7's worth of the bits, way under budget

It's a good thing too... I'm using the Canadian dollar so I have less to spend than most! :cry

Well, I don't know anything about the Canadian Dollar, or how it is doing in the global market, but the rules day say:

"10. international entrees are welcome. Please us the denomination of your currency, closest to 1 US dollar. (i.e. 1 Pound, 1 ERO, etc. etc.) and a max of 20 of said currency, before tax, or shipping. (i.e. 20 pounds, 20 ERO, etc. ) And, I ask, if it is at all possible, that you also shop only at your countries equivalent to a "$1. store". ( i.e. 1 ERO store) If there is no such thing in your country, please do your best to conform to as many of the rules listed here, as possible, pertaining to budget, and of course all of the other rules listed here would still apply."

So, I don't know how far 20 Canadian Dollars go, in Canada, but you get the same 20 of your currency, to play with, that everyone else gets, in their currency. :)

I don't know if that helps you out at all, but I just though I would point it out, just in case. :)

Yep. :) The laments were more for the dollar than anything else, current exchange rates mean that my $20 in canada is only:

18.68 US
12.56 Euro
11.31 Pounds

But no worries! I have a Beaver and a Moose helping me on mine! :D

Yeah, but it's still 20 Canadian . :)

MOOSE? :lol Well there is nothing in the rules against that. :) But shouldn't it be "Moose and squirrel"(said in thick Russian accent.)

Ya, he's not very good with the detail work I must admit!

well i've finished my saber today :) anyone else got theirs done yet?

I finished my saber for $9 back around Nov 11th. Took pix, Uploaded them and then decided it looked awful, so I went back to the store for more parts to start over an make a better one.

So I decided yesterday that I was going to do this. Sure I might lose hardcore, but at least I will be able to say I entered a building event with the RPF. I still have to paint and assemble everything, hopefully I don't have a change of heart like you did jonny5.

So far I bought 13 items, and have already axed two or three of them, hahah.

I finally got started on mine. I'm waiting for something to set so I can see if it worked. I'm way more confident about my hilt than my blade though.

:eek We have to make a blade???

I’m not in, better luck next time :unsure
But I’m looking forward to see all the lightsabers people made for this contest.

Ok I bought some stuff today. I'm in Australia, and don't have a 'dollar store' as such. The closest we have are bargain stores called things like "cheap as chips" and "Hot Dollar".

Done my best to stay within the limits, and even if I get disqualified, it'll be an interesting experience. It's the first time I've made anything like this, ever.

:lol
