TFA Graflex Research (That's a Graflex, right? Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)

Just got through this thread and sorry to be off topic but there was discussion of a MPP being picked up along with the Graflex flash handles. Dunno if anyone mentioned it or not but Vader is supposed to be in Rogue One. Hopefully that means the anthology movies have the same respect for the original props that they seemed to have for TFA

It would be awesome if someone who can take measurements could get the total grip length for the 2 different styles of saber and also measure the distance from each end to the rivet cutout.

I'll do that as soon as I have some time. I will do some perspective matching and reverse engineering in my CAD software to check this. I bet they're different lengths. Man, I wish I had some more time available, but I'm attending the Dutch Comic Con this weekend at the RPF booth with WannaWanga :)

Take your time. Better to be correct, than fast.

Where was this mentioned? MPP's are sorta rare...

As someone already mentioned - I suppose it's possible that the grips are the same length, but simply attached lower on some props. Maybe they used all the same parts, but were assembled by different people. The one exception being the foam grips.

aaaahhhh i understand now....

guys just to clarify, the target exclusive bluray comes with extra prop footage. but its a code to download it online? or is it on the bluray? i hate this code download stuff...

It's an online download through Disney Movies Anywhere. It'll be uploaded to the internet somewhere and I'm sure someone will post it here.

From what I heard, it's online content and not actually on the Blu-Ray.

That's exactly what I said. It's been confirmed that it is a digital download. Says so on the product page.

"Please note: Bonus content is high-definition digital format. Your Target Exclusive packaging will have a code inside with instructions on how to redeem the Target Exclusive bonus content on Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA). If you don't have a DMA account, you will be asked to create an account (free of charge)."

I'm starting to believe that my current T-track profile will be very accurate for the Rey TFA!

So what is the deal with the launchbay Graflex? Made just for the launchbay? Just looked it over for about 15 minutes or so. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1458937631.801265.jpg

I've done some additional research about the variations based on many screen-grabs (image brightness modified) and I identified 3 hero versions:

1. Rey opening Maz's Chest in castle (hero #1)
- short grips: distance from clamp, distance from bottom

2. Maz handing saber to Fin in castle (hero #1)
- short grips: distance from clamp, distance from bottom
- mirrored edge connector, thick lines lever side

3. Fin outdoor castle battle (hero #2)
- medium size grips: distance from clamp - end of bottom piece
- smooth glass eye (brass showing)

4. Fin outdoor castle battle (stunt)
- covered clamp and textile covered grips

5. Fin fighting Kylo Ren in forest (stunt)
- antenna visible

6. Stuck in the snow (hero #3)
- long grips: close to clamp - end of bottom piece

7. Rey catching saber in forest (hero 1 or 2?)
- grips distance from clamp (bottom not visible)

8. Rey igniting saber/fighting Kylo Ren in forest (stunt)
- covered clamp and textile covered grips

9. Rey offering saber to Luke on island (hero #2)

What do you guys think?

I think you're right.

Roy wins again.

I'm just curious if the grips are different sizes between the heroes, or if they are the same, and the gap between them and the clamp is because the bottom half isn't pushed all the way up.

Also-- the clamp card is much more obvious now with its finish being very different from the Graflex itself.

And I hope someday to see a real-world photo of the stunt version just out of curiosity.

Yeah I really wonder how much these grip distance to the clamp can be explained by the tube shifting.
