Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)

Hey! I know! Lets make Will into the Shredder! That'll make everyone happy right?... Right?

No, no. Let's dig deeper. Let's have Will play the role of April's boyfriend John. John gets assaulted by two thugs on the street who bonk him on the head. This bump makes John super smart so he decides to become an evil scientist and changes his name to Baxter Stockman. The whole film will center on the Turtles fighting Baxter's evil half human, half insect creature (Baxter is not the instect hybrid). After being defeated by the Turtles (Or Casey depending on who the heck is the lead in this film), Baxter decides that he needs to try something else. So he grabs the two thugs that bonked him on the head, turns them into Bebop and Rocksteady, and the film ends with Baxter putting on this spiky armor declaring that he shall now be known as the Shredder!

Fans will totally dig it.

Anything with Michael Bay attached is an AUTOMATIC FAIL... and nothing I've seen here so far speaks to otherwise. Anything he touches rots.

Here Here !

The fact that your opinions are made up before youve even seen it makes it worthless to me. Im sorry but if you cant go into a film with an open mind why bother? Just enjoy it for what it is or dont. The old ones will still be there. Funny that dark of the moon was one of the highest grossing films of all time eh?

Not meaning to single you two out as most people share this view here. But theres that much whining nowadays that it ruins all the fun

Not really...The commercial made it seem like it was critically acclaimed and awesome.

So I saw it in theaters and had eyegasms when I saw Transformers, but :sick when I saw people interacting:facepalm

My fault for going in and expecting more.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Nothing I've seen with Bay attached has been worth my time. That sorta sets a very distinct precedence to be able to judge anything else he does. He could prove me wrong... but I seriously doubt it... and I'm not going to throw more money away to that hack.

And you know what they call someone who keeps going back even though he's been electrocuted all the other times.

There was an interview with Bruce Campbel at WonderCon where the interviewer was asking him questions about how much comedy/horror film has changed and if practical effects are better than CGI effects. Bruce had an answer that I think answers the question as to why Michael Bay gets so much hate.

Bruce Campbell said:
I think horror movies are better if people give a ****, and make a decent movie. I feel like there's lazy film-makers in general out there. I [would like] a little more industrious film-making, please. I just think they need to work a little harder, pay attention, and don't treat audiences like they're stupid.

A very appropriate answer to his question even if it doesn't directly address the practical/cgi elements. It doesn't really matter if it's CGI or practical, you've got to have a film maker who cares about what they're making and aren't afraid to say "Yeah, we're making an Evil Dead movie that will make you feel uncomfortable" instead of "We're making a movie that anyone can get into". Michael Bay is a lot worse than that because he is a director who clearly doesn't give a sh** about the source material and the studios hire him for that very reason. The fact that the Transformers are treated as mere side characters in their own films is evidence to that.

The military playing a huge role in fighting the decepticons, Bay's bad taste of humor by giving Devastator testicles and having dialogue to acknowledge it, human characters defeating the Decepticons when the Autobots couldn't (i.e. Sam killing both Megatron and Starscream), having death mean nothing, killing off transformers simply because Bay doesn't like them (Which happen to be the only female transformers in the entire movie franchise), reusing the same story over and over again (Transformers have been with us all this time!), high end action scenes that take away from the Transformer action (the gliding paratroopers), pointless human characters, REALLY racially insensitive stereotype autobots...... deep wang. ect.

All of these elements are given a high degree of focus but by no means would break a movie about Transformers by their absence. But since Michael Bay doesn't give a sh**, he's free to make all of these decisions at the expense of the Transformers being meaningful characters who can carry their own story.

I agree with pretty much everything you said Jeyl, except the killing off characters. They killed the **** out of Jazz and he was a dude.

Youre aware that theres a budget to meet and that it costs an insane amount or money to have the scenes with the transformers surely? Would you rather just have 45 mins of pure nonstop transformers action with no human plot relating to us all?

And yes it was one of the highest grosing films whoever said not really.

I enjoyed them. I even liked revenge. I accept that times change and now we do have cgi that they try to make everything more believeable and real. To try and get you to think that if it were to happen. This is how it would.
Of course sam would kill a deceptacon. Do you think hes making it just for the origional fans? Dont forget this is a business. And its about making money. So you have to hit a wide audience. Ergo a teenager that gets involved in the action with a love interest etc.

Whats wrong with killing jazz off? He was one of my favourites but in most films they lose a likeable character. Theyre fighting a war. Its about surprise. And showing megatron in all his strength.

Honestly I cant believe the amount of people jumping on the racial bandwagon nowadays. I dont get how skids and mudflap were offensive. At all!

That would have meant something if the movies had any sense of consistency. Take this exchange between Megatron and Starscream.

Starscream: The Fallen decrees it! After all, in your absence, someone had to take command...
Megatron: So disappointing. Even in death, there is no command but MINE!

*Seconds Later*

Megatron: My master, I failed you on Earth. The Allspark is destroyed and without it, our race will perish.
The Fallen: Oh, you much have much to learn, my disciple.

But hey, that's just poor dialogue, right? I'm sure the execution of the Transformers' powers will have much better luck, right? Oh, look over there. Megatron was easily overpowered by a worn out, one armed Optimus Prime in a matter of seconds. No reason given, it just happens. So tell me, what good is a show of strength if it doesn't amount to anything?

Also, why is it that we call the Decepticons the bad guys when we see on numerous occasions the autobots brutally hunting down and murdering Decepticons, even when they no longer pose a threat? At least the Decepticons take prisoners.

Can you imagine if the Ninja Turtles actually killed their defeated foes? It'd be such a non-heroic thing to do they wouldn't fun anymore.

If the original source material by Eastman and Laird was followed. They were freaking ninjas that killed without remorse. Not the misfits that yell, "cowabunga" or "booyakasha" that the majority of people nowadays know.

I dont get your point....
So your reply is that megatron told his second in command that he was the main guy yet backed down to the fallen? Seems pretty spot on to me. Most people who would bother to comment on the transformers liked the olden days transformers and im guessing your one of them so why when one thing actually does tie in do you complain? Megatron always acted like the baddest deception of them all. But when face to face with bigger badder transformers e.g unicron in the original movie he backed down regardless of saying he answered to no one. He was saying that particular line because starscream is his b*/:h.

Probably a high amount of movies involve someone or something bullying others like top dog but then quivvering to someone higher up the rank. I suppose it annoyed you that the fallen kept saying that only a prime could defeat him? And they didnt explain why phsyically no one else could?

How many films have the bad guy beating the good guy until the last minute then they find an uncontrollable strength that leaves them victorious? Honestly that must be in 50 percent of films! (Exaggerating here but its a lot)

And the reason you see autobots hunting down Decepticons is because they are always a threat. Its supposed to be a war. How many wars do you know of where one side doesnt kill unthreatened participants of the other? Even innocents in general. Reason probably to stop them from having a chance at winning.

Are you annoyed that the transformers isnt a real story either? That they dont explain in explicit detail the technology that makes the transformers because it doesnt exist?

I think you're missing the point...Superman doesn't kill. Batman tries very hard not to kill. It goes against their moral code. The Autobots don't care in those films. I don't have a problem with it, but I see why it throws their code of conduct out the window.

I dont think I am. Superman and batman try not to kill. They never have. Transformers have always been destroyed. Maybe it wasnt show n as blood thirsty for lack of a better word. You cant compare that to two characters whos number 1 rule is no killing. There was a few points and I think I made good responses to them all.

Lets not forget that they let Decepticons change sides. And show mercy at certain points. Or ask the Decepticons to surrender as an example. Optimus pleading with sentinel. Even after he betrayed them and killed iron hide. Its mainly down to Decepticons killing humans and the Autobots are stepping in to protect us. As optimus says they will never leave humans alone. Its a lot easier to not kill 1 man as to not kill and army your at war with.
Dont get me wrong. part of the killing is due to more acceptable content in the modern day. But not with characters like batman as its more or less his slogan. Don not kill. So to alter that would alter his whole story line. Probably killing of his arch nemesis. Thats why they dont have him kill. It would be a bit naff without the joker. Transformers are a whole species. ..

I think the main issue with your comparrison is that if the dc characters were all at war. And a proper war. Where they were getting killed by all the nemesis'. Then they would kill. But your comparing a few singularities to a whole race

Probably not. DC has main characters that would dominate the film regardless of how many DC characters were in it. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Flash. For the simple fact that Superman is there no one's gonna kill anyone. At most Wonder Woman will beat someone half to death then someone will say, "THAT'S ENOUGH DIANA!" then a long talk about morals for the kids.

Robots on the other hand, can't really die because they're not alive. Big O.P. died and was brought back a few days later. Any human would have gotten brain damage after 45 seconds.
