Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)

Like many actors who get training months before actual shooting, these are bound to get heavily trained in fitness and martial arts. The alternative (which is doubtful) would be that they are planning to have them for voice alone and motion capture by someone else; similar to the 90s live action films with the exception of Josh Pais who did both, voice and stunts for Raph in the first film.

At least when George Lucas was casting for Darth Maul, he let the martial arts guy actually play the whole part, exception of voice of course. This on the other hand? What is this?

I'm really hoping they only cast these people for the voice acting, or the "acting" mo-cap, and plan on having a set of actual martial arts experts for the "action" mo-cap.

Though really, that doesn't make any sense.

This is awful.

There's no way they'll have these guys doing the actual martial arts in the film. Regardless of how much training they'll receive, it won't happen. That's the main benefit of the mocap although I really wish they had gone with actual suits.

These guys will more than likely be the voice-overs and probably the normal walking and talking but when it comes to the actual fighting, they'll be replaced by actual martial artists.

so why get no-names for voiceacting?

i mean i barely know one guy
at least, they couldve gotten either professional voice artists, or big movie names. its not like the name megan fox alone will bring anyone but 15 year old boys to the theater.

every time i think that this thing has dug itself so deep that it cant go deeper, they pick up the shovel and start digging again.

Sadly movie studios don't go for big name voice actors. Billy West from Futurama has for years been vocal about the fact that the studios would rather pay a big name actor like Keifer Sutherland to do voices and not be as good than a professional who does it for living daily. If anything to get teens you'd want voice actors they know and follow from anime or something or even the turtles cartoon.

I prefer not having big name actors doing voices in movies as it completely takes me out of the movie. I watch Kung Fu Panda or Paul and all I can think of is jack black and Seth Rogen.

yeah thats what i meant tho

with the movie they went with neither

they did not cast big hollywood stars as the turtles, and they also didnt cast voice actors. they cast some random people, i know one used to be aquaman in smallville, and he wasnt too present.
the others i have never heard of.

so, they have no names that they can bring people to the cinema with, except for megan fox, which, as i allready stated, will only bring in the 15 year old boys.

I'm not gonna write them off until I actually see a trailer or the movie itself. These guys could be perfect for the roles and we don't even know it, especially since the only thing we'll really be getting from them is their voices.

Yeah, I'm also going to hold out for a trailer before I completely give up hope. After all, I remember back when Heath Ledger was originally announced as the Joker in TDK, and everyone (including myself at the time) was all "Seriously? Horrible!" Boy were we wrong.

is this the avatar style cgi?
if so, forget it

i was hoping for live action turtles again

not avatar, plant of the apes style cgi motion capture.

the 1990 movie is so dirty and grimy and fun, i want to see that style return

Yes, and it is still surprising how the performers were actually able to move in those suits. They felt weighted, like they should be and hampered by the shell, but still able to do flips, jumps, circle kicks and all sorts of other cool stuff. Just look at Raphael's roof fight...

Is it too much to ask for a movie that follows the Comic Book? I LOVED the 90s movies, don't get me wrong, but now that I'm older I would really like to see the darker side fo the turtles that comes out in the Comics.

Motion capture and CGI doesn't bother me as long as they do it well enough to be seamless. Practical costuming would be great, though. The look of the 90s movie turtles was done very well in my opinion. Only a couple of things I would really like to see in the costuming, or CGI... all red masks... for the love of god!

They have different personalities and different weapons... no need to color code them... that's bugged me ever since I read the first comic, having watched the 80-90s cartoon. The color coding seemed retarded cause they look more awesome in the same red for each turtle.

AND... (thought I was done, but I'm not) Please give splinter a good showing. He wasn't just a old wise rat, he could kick some ass too... AND GET THE UTROMS RIGHT!

OK, now I'm done...

Will Arnett's humor is very...douchey. Michael Bay is killing me. Whats really sad is, if this movie gets OK reviews...I'll probably go see it :(
