Re: TASM2 - Screen Printed Suit UPDATE: Web Testing Begins*

what is the stretch like to the ink can it tear? break? like puffy paint?
also how are you gonna tackle the brick pattern on the red and the webs ?everything looks real good.don't forget the symbol can be a standalone item so it is stiffer then the webs..just my opinion...

Re: TASM2 - Screen Printed Suit UPDATE: Web Testing Begins*

Small Update: My local produce no longer carries the one organic vegetable (at least in the amount needed) I need to color my fabric that cardinal red fabric. Fortunately, there's a fabric that comes close that is sold online so I'll be using that red for the time being until I find a new market that carries darn vegetable in bulk.
That's unfortunate. I really wanted that specific red.

It's similar to puff paint but you do have to keep in mind that this is screen printed high density ink. Which is why, to prevent it from breaking too much (no ink is invincible), we will create the piece size to an average chest width and length (15 x 20) that way it can fit on your chest comfortably without having to compensate too much to stretch to your size.

We are currently working on the red brick pattern, we just ordered some more ink and we're going through a list of red pantones. Our goal is to have the ink look it will "blend in" with the fabrics inner fibers.

man!! sign me up!!

Thanks dude. I'll add you to the list.

If you'd like, I can email you the layers of formula I used. Though it'd be missing one ingredient.

Nah, I don't have the resources to make it myself, and it wouldn't be worth it with a missing ingredient.

I just realized this is just for the materials, I wouldn't even begin to how to sew it all together.....probably end up sowing to to my arm or something :p

I may end up selling the suits I sew for myself in the junk yard.

Re: TASM2 - Screen Printed Suit UPDATE: Web Testing Begins*

That may be interesting lol
Can they fit a guy that's 6'1"?

Hmm, I'm about 2 inches shorter than you. The upper body may fit you, it's just the leg parts that may be a problem. The good thing is, I may be treating the feet parts as boot covers (sewn over external boots) so the only thing you'd have to worry about is the pants. We'll talk more about this when the time comes.

Re: TASM2 - Screen Printed Suit UPDATE: Web Testing Begins*

BTW, count me in for the blue brick and red brick fabric. (No webs)

Small update: I recently purchased a head mannequin from Tom Spina Designs for a great deal. Although my crew mates are at SDCC, I decided to stay back and rest (still wearing an arm cast).

But restless as I am, I decided to tape my TJack faceshell to the mannequin, saran wrap the first layer, then with masking tape, layered the saran wrap. I'm no McLean, but I am pretty proud that I was able to do this one one hand (my none dominant hand too).

I foresee a lot of problems with reference images (the faceshell and head shape of Andrew Garfield is completely different from the overall mannequin head shape) but I will do my best to draw my own mask pattern that compliments TJack's faceshell. Wish me luck.

Re: TASM2 - Screen Printed Suit UPDATE: Web Testing Begins*

my opinion you should focus on the suit not the shell . that is secondary plus there are plenty out there...

He's only using the shell's shape to help design the fabric pattern for the spandex mask right now--not making another shell from scratch. A common technique for tricky pattern-making is to create a layer of masking tape around the body shape in question, draw in the intended placement of the seams, and then cut apart the masking tape layer along those seam lines. Presto--you now have separated flat shapes for the development of the fabric pattern.

Yup! In fact, I just did this yesterday for one of my upcoming suits. It's very helpful

The blue looks spot on, the shine, the colour, everything.
