Re: T2 Donut head
I had posted this at the endobuildersclub and apparently forgot to post it here too. Thanks for the headsup on the eyes.
Well i started out thinking i was going to have a fun little project but it ended up being a long bunch of work! Decided to get the head ready for an eyeball.
I started by cutting a hole at the bottom to see if i could manage to do it from there. The head was filled with foam so there was no way to do it from the bottom.
Next i pretty much drew out with a pencil where the hairline was and then picked a spot in the middle and made a circle about as big as i needed to put my hand through. I figured i would do it ala surgeon and cut at an angle all the way around. No luck. I went as far as the blade would cut and never got through.
So then i just got the saw out. Cut a bunch and still couldn't get through.
OK, wheres the friggin drill. So i drill stright down and the thing goes at least 3/4" bofore it went through. So out comes the dremel with a drill bit attached and i went all the way around to cut it out. What a pain. Pop it off and it's chock full o foam.
It took quite awhile to dremel it all out with the drill bit. It is some hard foam. Nothing you are going to pluck with your fingers.
Finally got through and cleaned it out a much as i felt like today.
Then dremeled out the eye leaving a lip around it. I then went at an extreme angle and cleaned out as much as i could so the eye would sit as close to the eyelid as possible.
Then took an xacto knife and trimmed pretty close to the lids. I will clean it up more when i have more patience and the eye. Next i'll probably clean up the skull hole and build up the edges a bit on the skull and the skull piece so i can stick the skull piece back in. If i do an animatronic eye i will make it so i can remove it. If not i will glue it back on.
