T2 Donut head build thread

Re: T2 Donut head

Yes, $48 is the price without blood vessels/veins in the eyes. These are 2/3 spheres.

Not looking for anyone to split the cost of the eyes yet (for one eye each). My bust hasn't arrived yet, so won't be researching the eyes properly until then. At that point I'll contact Tech Optics and see if you'll do just one eye - if someone hasn't done it already by then.

Well im still waiting for mine too. If you want someone to come in, send me a message. Not sure when il be paining this guy so no rush...

Thanks for the info :)

Re: T2 Donut head

I would chose the ones on the left. However, he's a machine. You could add a bit extra weirdness and artificialness by having vein-less eyes.

If anyone who has the regB blu-ray version of T2 and could take a few captures, there are a few good close ups of Robert Patrick's eyes. They are definitely icy-blue.

Re: T2 Donut head

Got my shirt in. Looks good to me. Yes the pockets are pleated but i am fine with it. The size 15 x 32 is good too. If i were to do a full 1:1 i may go to a slightly longer shirt. It looks odd because i have him sitting on the corner and it doesn;t sit right. I can't hold it and take a pic at the same time. I think a rod and stand to lift it up in the air a bit will be the plan. Very happy.

Re: T2 Donut head

I'm not taking delivery of mine until after Christmas (already had the Post Office destroy two fragile items in the past two weeks! :( ). So, if anyone needs an "eye buddy", keep me in mind.

I'm planning to prep mine like your last pic - so I probably won't have to worry fnding a badge or the legalities of it :)

Re: T2 Donut head

I'm loving the progress, man! :) As far as the eyes go, I'd choose the pair in the middle of your comparison photo. Patrick has very striking, bright blue-gray eyes that gave this character that extra visual creepiness and "coldness."

EDIT: Also on the subject of Patrick's eyes, you may want to check out this list of photo albums here: http://robert-patrick.ws/en_news.htm That's a website devoted to "everything Robert Patrick", and has hundreds upon hundreds of high-res photos from every movie, television, and promotion he's ever done. I saved quite a few of them a couple years ago for reference to sculpt my own Donut Head before I finally got access to the real deal.

By the way, I own an original production-used T-1000 cop shirt. If you guys need any specific photos for seam/style/button reference, I'd be happy to provide them. Just shoot me a PM.

WarPig, your bust is still hangin' out here safe and sound until after Christmas. If it's any consolation, I have yet to hear reports of any of these busts arriving broken or damaged in any way. You should see how tight I have been packing them...Zombie Killer can tell you what I mean. I had one of my customers tell me the box was packed so tight with peanuts and bubble wrap, he couldn't figure out how to get the bust out! :lol

Cheers,

Ryan

Yes, i agree that he middle are closest.

Wow, that site has some great reference. It has some real good shots of this exact bust too. Thank you. I'll have to search for some to send to get some eyes made. For $20 more i'll get them to make some custom ones.

These are really, really well packed. I was at a loss at first. You just have to carefully stuff both hands in the box, grab the thing and lift, shake, lift, shake, untill it reveals itself. Then pickup all the peanuts on the floor! Thanks Ryan for taking such great care in packing these. The box would have to take a real hit to damage one of these.

Re: T2 Donut head

Well, this is exactly like i was thinking about with a pole and raised up in the air. This pic is linked to that site.

Between these 2 I think this should give the eye makers a good idea of color and also that red dot he has. Pupils are too diallated but i am sure they can adjust them accordingly. I mean IT, we only need the one.

Re: T2 Donut head

Actually, if you send them reference for both eyes, I'd definitely be interested in getting in on that, as I need eyes for my regular T-1000 bust.

Awesome reference, btw.

Re: T2 Donut head

I think i have figured this shirt out. Propstore o London has some screen used T2 T-1000 shirts. They all have this logo at the bottom of the shirt in front. Same logo as the Flying Cross shirt i just bought. The top 3 pics are of PSoL shirts. The bottom is the shirt i just bought. They are indeed F C shirts.

The probelm i see with the shirt i bought is the pleated pockets, the button holes do not have a center strip of material, the badge holes are button holes. Not the type with a piece of material and eyelets. These are new style police shirts.
They also have an EMT shirt. These shirts don't have the pleates, has the material over the button holes and has the eyelet style badge attaching point. All the new ones i see are not available in dark blue. Or if they are have light blue pocket flaps and shoulder thingies.
There is an older style that is all blue. Here is what it looks like. Unfortunatly this used shirt on the bay is for a 48 chest. Way too big. I think this is the correct style shirt.

I have found and bought another shirt though. It is a used Flying cross that has no pleates and has the center piece of material over the buttons. It does not have any badge attachment point though. Instead it has a sewn set of wings. Fortunatly this is where the badge will be so i will remove that and either make and sew on the eyelet badge holder or more likely not even worry about it. This shirt will look 100% except for the badge holder that you don't really see anyways. It looks like the color is messed up but its a photo issue and not the shirt.

Re: T2 Donut head

I agree. That site has some fantastic eye reference. Just remember, though: eyes tend to get dim and colors less vibrant as people age. If you could find a good T2-era, reasonably color-accurate photo on that website, I'd use it instead.

I'll shoot you over some pics of my shirt tonight. It's one of the armless ones with velcro in back from Prop Store. To be honest, that first shirt's pocket flaps are way more accurate than the second. I'm not sure which one I'd choose for the final display.

Cheers,

Ryan

Re: T2 Donut head

Thanks for the pics Ryan. Yes the first shirts pockets are correct and the one i just ordered are not. I am going to remove the flaps on the shirt i just received and sew them on the shirt i just ordered to correct that as long as the color is compatible. Also going to use it as a source for material to make an eyelet badge loop. So i'll have to do some construction.

Re: T2 Donut head

Nice detective work on the labels. Wonder if the company could be persuaded to start making the old style again!?

Re: T2 Donut head

Should be a killer display once finished.
Thanks for the information on the shirt as i was looking for one for a display that I want to finish.
I really hate ordering wrong sizes & wasting money.

Tech Optics has:
11.8mm Iris size in the 27mm and 11.3 in the 28mm Half Dome

.5 should not make too much of a difference in iris size.

Looking really good Zombie!!
I was also going to do a torso mannequin from waiste up BUT I really like the look of your bust only from pockets up. Im guessing if I went with this then it really wouldnt matter about pocket differences etc because you wont see them.

Ive purchased the buttons and 'AUSTIN' name tag from ebay & the badge from 'Too Much Garlic'. I really like the eyes you guys are showing from TECH OPTICS..... If there is some kind of group buy, definitely count me in.

Ive subscribed to this thread and cant wait to see more..keep up the awesome work mate!!!
