T1 and T2 Endoskeleton Research Thread

This is the Calico insert on the stomping endo rifle. It is NOT an actual Calico, but a casting of one with details sanded down.

The one holding two firing rifles later in the scene may have actual Calicos inserted. Haven't checked.

I along with two others commissioned Laellee to 3D model the endo rifle. The first reference was a rifle similar to the Lightstorm endo rifle, with the detailing at the top of the Calico piece, but when finding the screen matched rifle in a Propstore auction, we switched to how that one looked. I am thankful for how professional and skilled Laellee is and how patient and willing to switch reference halfway through.

Cannot recommend his work enough.

But that rifle in the first scene has a veey specific look. Not only is the Calico insert different than we see in fan made and licensed rifles, as well as some auctioned endo rifles. It is also much wider than most. Very unique.

Oh... no. And those grips, if I remember correctly, are not seen in the segments of the T2:3D show I've seen, so they must have been made for the store displays.

Shifting gears for a second, I know there was some talk a while back about that small rectangular piece of the abdomen (battery cover?) and how many would like to have a better representation. A long time ago there was a very nice fan made replica made by RPF member BionicsBob. I have one and I was given the ok to post about it by BionicsBob. Here’s what his piece looks like:

And here are a few shots of it roughly placed with the chest, back, and abdominal plate to get a feel for how much better and authentic it looks:

I feel like the scale and proportions feel right and the curves match the SWS original very closely.

Anyway, if there’s interest in his part, he said he may produce more. No promises though.

Hi, all!
It's been quite some time since I've last posted here. I actually own the prototype rifle used to make the ones you see in the film. It was also lent to LFS to mold and make the licensed ones. My rifle has the, as you say, T2 3D grip. My guess is that it was made by the same prop maker who produced the proto, and was intended to be in the production. It exactly matches the blueprint.

Alright, hopefully you’re as hyped as I am for what I’m about to share. After about 3 straight weeks of work, I’m calling my version of the Hero T1/T2 feet done. I know nothing is ever truly done. However, since the last images I posted, I seriously remade nearly every part using my new MoPop ref and everything is more accurate/authentic than before. I would say significantly. I did have to take a few liberties here and there, but those will be my “tells”. I can’t keep tweaking these forever and I need to move on to the next chapter of my build. I don’t believe there are any models like these anywhere else. Enjoy some images:

If possible, I would like to see three views in parallel projection without perspective, but is this an impossible request?

I’m flattered by your interest in my models. I’m very impressed by your work as well! I hope you understand that I would like to protect my work and the substantial personal investment that I have put into them. I am planning on building full scale physical replicas with my parts and I have some big plans/hopes for the future.

So, I’m not going to post orthographic/blueprint-style views of my parts on the internet and I don’t plan on distributing the source files.

Thanks for understanding,
-Dana

OK, I will respect your wishes.
You are doing a good job.
I also have no intention of publishing my 3D data.
In my case, however, I might publish the images.
Thank you.

First test print of the main foot/heel part finished. I’m using PLA with PETG supports to make my life easier. Took about 7 hours on the XL.

Looks good so far and scale matches the rest of my endo as expected. Will run the rest of the foot parts next to test everything before resin prints and/or metal parts get made.

Also, a word on what I’m calling the “Ankle Cuff”. The LFS version is innacurate in several ways. Besides dimensions, a major issue is the height and angle of the upper section and how it mates to the shin/calf piece. I think TMG brought up earlier in the thread. It should look like this:
The Terminator 4K (1984).mkv_20250123_105123.503.png

But here’s the LFS version with the wrong angle and massive gap:

And here’s how mine came out. Not perfect, but better:

I don't recall talking about the shape of it before, though. I just modeled my rework based on the LFS, but your post has shown that the LFS angle is too steep.

I think the issue with the LFS is that it is trimmed down too far in the back or an issue of how they cast them - likely having loads of bubbles at the angled cut, so they cut it down more, as my two ones are cut different.

Or maybe they had to make their own version and it's not a direct cast, similar to the rectangular chest piece and some of the pistons?

Ah, I thought you had pointed out the angle looked too steep in a past post. Anyway, it is. I suspect the LFS parts were custom made and not casts from the original SWS T1/T2 parts. They just don’t seem to match.

Also, for anyone reading this who doesn’t know me… I’m grateful and lucky that I was able to acquire my LFS kit ages ago. Especially given that in the current hobby climate it’s probably considered sketchy as hell. I know not everything is perfect or original in it. But, I love it for what it is and it has given me the opportunity to build off of mostly screen lineage parts. I just wanted to mention that since I've been pointing out countless issues and may seem like I’m bashing the work that was put into it. I’m not, I’m just trying apply a critical eye/thinking to it since we’re looking to spot opportunities for improvement and to collectively determine what may/may not be original.

For fun, here's the first photo I took of my kit as I unboxed it and laid it all out on the ground in my garage. Photo is from October of 2003! This photo used to pop up all over different forums discussing the endoskeleton. I love that my toes/sandal are in the shot and my name was written on the pelvis. Forensic evidence this is my LFS kit lol!
