Sylvie (Loki series) costume piece ID’s

I LOVE mash up cosplays! Which other character are you incorporating??

I’ll be sure to share poncho progress once I get there

Attached is my first attempt at her entire sleeve. I’ve already improved the pattern and hope to finish the real deal soon!
Omg those are looking amazing! How did you get the shape for the cuff of the sleeve??

Also my sleeve detail kit came in today. It's even better in person! Ty so much for selling these!

Yay!! Just take your time with it and try to enjoy the process

The hem of the sleeves is angled and since I knew this one was simply a mock up, I took some braided string from a gift bag and used that for piping lol! I think some kind of round piping is going to be ideal but I don't know what I'll use in my final piece yet.

Do you have a shop on Etsy that sells Sylvies gloves?

This is what I'm using for the gold elements, but I'm not sure if it will work for your version: https://www.joann.com/hildie-jo-7in-strand-metal-spacer-bar-2-hole-oxidized-silver/13898226.html (I had to spray paint them) I've got the first two in so far and am moving on to the lower two soon.
Awesome tip. I have been messing with all kinds of spacers and beads, and haven't found any combination that I am satisfied with. Definitely going to check these out. :) What are you using for the little metal plates on the right side? My black deerhide finally showed up from Tandy so I can now start assembling everything. I am using the buckskin as the base of the breastplate front and back, since it is thick enough to support the plates, but will be more comfortable and breathe better than the vinyl/"pleather" I used for the fitting mockup. That was like getting cinched into a corset LOL

Hey so you're the maker of the listing on etsy? would you ever consider selling the file you used for the shape? I wanted to cut mine out of craft foam using my cricut. Would have ordered your leather ones but I didn't want to run my chances with international shipping (I'm NZ based)

I've been going nuts trying to find a useable pattern for her cloak and just came across this one. It needs a little modification but since I'm doing a mash up mine doesn't have to be completed SA thankfully. View C looks pretty close.
I'm not sure if you're set for buying a pattern but it almost doesn't need a one. It's just cut from a rectangle shape with a hood and a few details here and there. Drew this up to explain sort of but its as wide as your arms and then length is probably to knees. And then the green lining will be around 3" shorter. As for the hood, there's tons of free patterns on the internet. Up to preference but this is the standard looking cape hood pattern. (ignore the dumb collar I just realized its wrong.) But the square shape works. But also I am no seamstress so if anyone has anything to add or correct, be my guest.

I honestly could not have answered your question about the metal plates until 5 minutes ago when I just finished my own! I show the process in my Sylvie story on Instagram (2PlayerGame) in case you want details, and here is a picture of the finished piece which contain 12 laser cut pieces of leather with tiny adhesive gems that have all been painted and then attached to foam.

Yes, that's me! I'm not interested in selling the files on Etsy since it's likely to bring in bad reviews b/c I don't want to provide tutorials for digital files, but I could potentially do a sale outside of ETsy via PayPal. What kind of file type would you need?

I've finally got my Sylvie shirt done!!! Cosplay takes a village sometimes and I def owe credit to my twin sis who helped me modify a vintage turtle neck pattern! This shirt is super comfortable, has a nice long zipper in the back, everything is stretchy, and all the fabric/trim was purchased at Joanns (except for the circle details which are leather). I'm still waiting on some better pants to come in the mail (will make a more accurate pair after DragonCon), still have to finish painting the sword, and THIS VEST JUST MIGHT KILL ME

This is actually exactly how I was planning on doing mine too xD I just need that ever elusive motivation to get it done.

omg that's gorgeous!!!

Thanks for sharing these! Now that I see how this mockup is constructed, I think I'm seeing evidence that the fastenings are in the same place on the final version. Most of the shots are from her right side, as the good side of the armor. The seam on the left side of the front (as worn, where the zipper is in the early version) sits a little wider than that on the right, and in a couple of shots I think I can see the top band lifted away slightly behind her arm. Plus, a front fastening might be easier to put on and take off unless you have a long zipper pull.
I'm planning to do at least a test version in foam, potentially to do a leather version when I'm satisfied with my pattern. Does anyone have thoughts about how the leather is sewn or glued together?
Could

So, for my vest, I'm working on a foam base (already constructed) and I did some tests in which I barged black duck canvas onto some of my extra foam. Worked great! I'm about to draw the patterns out for the top of the vest and when I assemble thos I will have strips of canvas underneath / in between the leather pieces. So: Foam, Canvas, Leather. Will try to add some photos here soon!
Do you have a pattern perhaps?

Hey very new to this site but I thought I'd share how I am going to tackle Sylvie's bodysuit (undergarments). All this info on this thread is so helpful to me so thank you to everyone contributing. I've written all of this down in my little notebook but the easiest thing for me probably is buying an already made bodysuit with a turtle neck (which I can easily remove and use for patterning). Originally I was going to make it all from scratch but my overlocker is not in the best of condition. I went out and bought some pleather yesterday because Spotlight sale yahoo! I also bought some gold fabric for the accents on the sleeves and neck but I think the different materials contrast too much so I might painstakingly hand paint the details on with some metallic gold paint. Also grabbed some batting for the shoulder pad business that is happening. As for the circle sleeve details, might just make something up in illustrator and cut some craft foam with the cricut. But yeah I agree... top stitching that feels like a nightmare so hopefully with some glue and pressing in the crevices it should look just as effective. Also bodysuit was the way for me to go personally because it will sit a lot nicer under the pants than a shirt I think? Also the pants. I have seen a really helpful pattern linked previously but what fabric are yall thinking? I thought about linen but I am looking for a better alternative. Can't really tell what fabric is used from the photos but its definitely woven
SHare any patterns?

Just like an illustrator file or even a transparent image for the shapes you used would be awesome!

Thank you! Those gems worked in a pinch, but I think I may look for a different option in the future and I hope to list a kit in my shop after DragonCon :)

Patterns please!
I traced out the vest patterns on my duct tape dummy. So, the patterns I'm working with for myself aren't anything digital that I can share. As for the shirt, I modified a vintage pattern: Simplicity 6624 Misses Stretch Knit. I bought it off Etsy, and there should be plenty others left, but keep in mind that they are vintage sizes and only one size per packet! I'm typically a small/size 2 and I'm a vintage 12 for instance. Hope that helps!

This group has been fantastic! Thank you for all the resources and reference images. As I’m not a seamstress, I’ve been hunting for pants that might work.

Based on the recent set photos Sophia posted, I think these might be really close. Belt is removable and since I’m short I think the length will still hit the boots right.

what do y’all think?
