Sylgian's Sith Stalker (501st approved!)

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

And for my last piece of craftsmanship for the night, I made myself a stalker rat-tail hair thingy. It mounts to the inside of the helmet with a small piece of velcro. I made this out of a sweet (by sweet, I mean cheapest I could find) wig and some flexible irrigation tubing from Home Depot.

We took this:

And turned it into this:

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

Very creepy wig for sure- so much so in fact that the stalker rat tail is less creepy.

As for the head size issue, it will also be lessened when that other shoulder piece is added making you look wider. Or you could also slide the big shoulder piece slightly out. I know you don't have a ton of room for that since it nearly touches in the refs, but it will create a wider illusion making that helm look smaller.

Regardless, I have read this thread several times, and am loving your work.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I've been watching this thread for a few months now and all I can say is this makes me so jealous. One of the reasons I joined here is so I could follow this build.
I've never done any pepakura before so if I try I don't know if I'll start with this project but I definitely want to try and at least make that helmet sometime.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

My glove arrived with the wig yesterday. I think it might actually work. I will need to figure out some sort of robot bracer for my forearm still. But hey, not bad for 6 bucks.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

Today I picked up this gem on craigslist for $10. I will be painting the body suit soon and since I cant wear it and paint it at the same time, I need a torso to put it on. This is what I will be using.

I am also making duct-tape casts of my arms to attach to the mannequin torso. Should work out pretty well. Worst case I have a nice new stand for the armor.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I didnt do much bondo work this weekend. But I got the belt done. One more thing crossed off the list. I still need to add some metal chain links here and there. But I can leave the detail work alone until I get the major bits finished.

I also got my mannequin together. I added a post to sit the helmet on top too. Looks pretty cool in the office.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I just received my confirmation email for the Star Wars Celebration VI costume pageant. I will be running around the stage on Saturday August 25th. Come cheer for me. Now I really need to finish!

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

My very first costuming project was the Sith Stalker. It was a ridiculous disaster. Watching your awesome work here is making me want to have another go at it. Great work indeed.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

So, here is the plan I came up with for my robot hand. I drew up a sketch at work and then picked up more magnets on lunch.

MAGNETS!! Love em.

And after an evenings work I have this. I still need to make the other half of the bracer. I decided to make the robot bracer two pieces to allow the sock portion of the glove to stretch. With some silver paint and weathering it should look pretty cool. Plus the magnets work great. I think it will work!

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

You will have to be careful not to knock the blade thing off your arm... since it sticks out and you will not be used to it being there you might hit it on something and with just the magnets it could fall off. I would hate for it to fall to the ground and break.

The glove looks good though.

Agreed. I did drop it a few times already and its part of the reason for doubling the number of magnets. The piece itself is pretty rigid. With 8 magnets it takes a decent tug to get it to detach though. And I figure with the terrible visibility of the helm... I rather it pop off than elbow some poor kid in the face with a hard mounted death spike. LOL.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

Oh yes... that is a good point... better to have a broken armor piece then a lawsuit or insurance claim. lol I was thinking more about hitting it on inanimate objects.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

True. I will have to be mindful of doorways and the like. Use the force right?!

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

Keep up the work. The Sith Stalker outfit looks great. Should be a hit at Star Wars celebreation VI. Hope fully I can go next year.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

More robot arm progress. Cant wait to paint the pieces and get this put together. Still need some skin stretched over it. Thats in the works.

Its not quite game accurate, but I wanna keep my real arm. So, I am taking some artistic license here.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I have been working on the last layer of my robot arm. The torn up zombie flesh. I an making this out of the legs I cut off of the body suit. Being rather anal, I decided I needed to have a finished edge on everything. I could just cut holes, but it wouldn't be very durable. I want something that will last.

I have never sewn lycra in my life. There is a bit of a learning curve. This stuff is a pain in the ass. But I think I have a solution worked out.

Once competed, this sleeve will be painted all undead looking and have some purple veins added to look more like flesh. For now, imagine a robot arm peaking through the holes.
