SyFy's Heroes of Cosplay

Something I'm curious about, if anyone *cough* Jinyo *cough* wants to try and answer: If the show doesn't get picked up for a second season, at what point does the NDA run out?

Chloe appears from time to time during the intro to Nerdist podcasts, and I can confirm that she is very much a snort laugher.

She was actually on one of the first episodes of another Nerdist network podcast, The Indoor Kids, as just a cosplayer/model/video game enthusiast guest well before she really had any notoriety or started dating Hardwick, and she came off as really sweet and funny.

Jinyo creeping on Monika:

Here is the link of the discussion on his Facebook explaining what the machines exactly are.

Probably sitting there muttering to her self "at least I don't have to worry about Becky" over and over.

What about this being a second episode where Monika disses Becky's costume skills. I don't think anything was edited, it was pretty obvious.

There's obviously editing to create certain "roles" for the narrative of the show. I think it might also be fair to assume that some of those roles were natural fits to begin with.

Okay, nuance and subtlety obviously didn't work. I'll use small words this time.

THEY ARE ACTING! THAT IS NOT THEIR REAL PERSONALITIES OR OPINIONS! IT'S ALL PRETEND!

It's not edited out of context. It was a performance from the very beginning. Or do you also believe that Stephen Colbert really is a right-wing pundit?

is that a Baby Lock Serger and a Brother sewing machine? Are they any good? My only experience has been with a Juki Lockstitch machine and it isn't really conducive to sewing garments.

According to Monika, the sewing machine is a Husqvarna and the serger is an overlock by Brother. And I'm the wrong person to ask if these machines are any good as my sewing experience comes from an 8th grade Home Economics class.

Old Husqvarnas that are mostly metal are freaking awesome. I dunno about Brother surgers but my embroidery machine is a Brother and it's very nice.

See, I do honestly believe that 99% of this is scripted or stuff is filmed and then edited to make them appear worse. Especially when after that first episode aired, Yaya went and recorded that video with Jessica Nigri saying they're actually really good friends and blahblahblah. That being said, this is twice now that monika was trashing that Becky chick. Mix that with the fact that she didn't follow suit with a video of her own makes me unsure. I mean it seems to me that most people see her as a complete **** now and she hasn't said anything to counter it. Script or not, if my image was being tarnished like hers currently is (especially with jobs like blizzard coming up), I would want to clear things up, even if it was just to say "don't believe everything you see on TV.

It's really a shame that there aren't more people "behind the scenes" that could clear up with monika has a hate on for Becky.

Good god do I hate myself for watching even a couple of these episodes.

Ya, my rents have a Bernina in their shop but i'm not allowed to touch the thing. Hmm, never heard of Husqvarnas... i'll check it out. Ty guys! :)

The formula of the show as presented is that they decide to go to a convention that is 2-3 weeks away, and they start making a 'new' costume to enter the costume contest.

Then, when that convention is over, the next convention is 2-3 weeks away and they have to make another 'new' costume for that costume contest.

It's designed to look like 'Project Runway' or 'Face-Off'. Most of the people the HoC cast are competing against have probably been working on their costumes for months or even years, not 2-3 weeks.

Yeah... it would be cooler if they just went against each other, giving someone a chance to win at least.... I cant imagine making a costume 2-3 weeks... it takes me forever... I still have stuff from the beginning of the year that I'm working on.....

Ya, 2-3 weeks is nuts. I mean, I've had to do upholstery work in a matter of days, but an entire costume seems crazy. Barely finished on the functional minigun for my brothers Jawa costume. How is the contouring coming along by the way?

I'd have to look at the paperwork, but generally speaking, it doesn't run out.
But at some point, no one gives a rat's ass anymore.

To me as a newbe to cosplay, I feel that its sad to feel that you need drama in your show to attract viewers, I watch the show mainly for the info, costumes and watch the cons, so in the future I can decide which one to go to, already planning Oregon,Washington and San Diego next year....I hope they bring back the show next season with a differant statagy for the viewers.....like digging into the real making of costumes....not so much drama....that is just my opinion....Mike

Unless you live in the Portland area , I would not recommend traveling here to do the Wizard World Con. Unless of course you are coming to see Portland. I would highly recommend the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. Tickets are on sale now! They've sold out the past couple of years.....

Becky has already Tweeted publicly on Monika's behalf. Not everyone has time to make a video, or cares enough. Becky's real life keeps her more than busy.
This is a TV show on Syfy (or Space), not a surveillance camera. Planet Comicon isn't a two-week con that is going on right this moment. Summer internships don't start in September.
If Jessica Nigri and Yaya release a video saying "don't believe everything you see on TV," it doesn't mean "everything you see on TV is real except for what Yaya said about Jessica."
And for someone who hates himself for watching even a couple of these episodes, you are way too concerned about Becky & Monika's relationship.
Put down the remote and step away from the TV.

It's a relatively inexpensive Brother serger. Monika seems to think hers is a bit unreliable, but I haven't had any problems with mine.
