Interest Syd Mead's concept Blade Runner blaster

Finished modelling Syd Mead's concept blaster and decided to do a run of them. Want to buy a decent 3d printer so I can make the master before resin casting the kit. Before buying one, I want to make sure the interest is there. Looking for 10 people who would be up for buying a kit before investing in a printer. Estimating the kit will cost about £90/$150 + P&P from the UK.

It'll be a multi-piece kit, allowing the barrel to hinged from the main body of the gun, a hollow body to allow electronics to be fitted and a hollow power cell that should fit a CR123 that will fit in the rear hatch and power the electronics.

Not looking for any money down, won't be taking any money until I have finished and ready to ship kits. If you're interested, drop me a PM.

Is the price for a kit? How much for a finish model? Depending on the price for a finish model, I am in!

I'm only offering a kit. It's difficult to export replica firearms out the UK (though kits should be fine) and I doubt I could do the kit justice painting it. I'm sure you'd be able to find someone on this forum who'd be willing to build and paint the kit though.

Nixon, thanks for the quick reply. Next question, how much is shipping to the US? Just needed a ball park figure to help with my prop budget :) Thanks!

For tracked and signed delivery to the US, it's $20 for a 500g package. Can't imagine it'd weigh more than that.

I'm in :) not sure what your budget for a 3d printer is, though to print something this big it might be worth looking into getting a company like Shapeways to do the printing. The form 1 is a great affordable printer, though it's only really good for small objects and not large stuff.

Designed it to break down into pieces that can be easily 3D printed ;) Eyeing up a Flashforge Creator Pro which is basically a Makerbot Replicator 2 clone for less than half the price. Trying to convince myself i don't need an Ultimaker 2, but a print height of 0.02mm does sound cool, though the handle alone would take 3 days to print at that resolution.

Want to buy my own printer instead of using Shapeways as I have a few other kits in the works so my own printer would quickly pay for itself.

Holy smokes, less than 2 days and all 10 slots are filled (an an extra one)! Time to go 3D printer shopping .

If anyone else is interested I can add you to a reserve list. Will probably make them but don't want to have to go and buy a load of resin until I get some money in from the first kits.

Been talking to Sean about this and I'm wondering how many people would be interested in having the trigger move? Might be able to get the trigger to activate a switch if i fiddle with the model a bit.

Sounds like a good idea, I would honestly be happy with either. I have been wanting a replica of this ever since I got my first PKD.
