SW: How to build a metal EE-4 blaster from a real Webley flaregun

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

While i was waiting for some glue to cure at my E-11A pistol build, i found some time to inspect the barrel closer.

The long part is only stuffed into the socket part, and secured with one small setscrew.

But the wall is very thin, so the inner tube got a indention when the lonely setscrew is thightened up- combined with this severe cut

It is a somehow unstable construction, that doesn´t lines up perfectly (yes, i know noone will notice, but i know it ...... and i´m german :$)

So i decided to make a new and clean cut that eases the alignment:

Next step is to turn a disc that will be pressed into the tube end - it will stabilize the tube when the setscrew puts the needed pressure on it to hold the parts together.

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

Today i had some time to spend in my workshop, and i started to draw some pencil lines:

Then cutting and shaping some alu-profiles:

And after that a lot of drilling, adjusting, and pop-riveting brought this result:

I´m satisfied with the way it comes out, definatly has more guts than the EE-3:

Now i have to try to get a shoulder-stock for it.

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

Whew....that is a serious barrel:eek Lookin' great bud!! Are you going to make a custom stock or a more conventional Webley one?

Thanks mate. :cool

I´m not sure, maybe both in one? I will buy a Webley stock, but not to simple copying the movie ones with their accurate grebblies - the whole gun looks like a newer and stronger, more advanced version, if i have some good ideas i would like to keep that "design" for the stock, too.

Somehow similar, but noticeable different - like the Sterling to the MGC, or the ANH Han Blaster to the ROTJ.

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

(y)thumbsupThis is amazing!
Old school preop building at its BEST!!
Dont paint it. Powder coat it or anodize the parts. You came this far, might as well to it right.
Awsome job!

Thanks. :)

It is not planned to get it painted - i want to look out for a company that can treat such parts as i do with smaller parts and "Birchwoods Alu-Black".

That would give them a look close to the flareguns surface (not that beaten, but that is something that could be made after having blackened them).

Problem is - no such company in our region. :unsure

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

I would prefer to have a surface for the alu stuff like this piston part (it´s treated with the above mentioned Alu-Black):

Something that looks old and worn, as the flaregun does, too.

Uuuuh, even without the stock .... it´s pretty big already:

Re: How to build a EE-4 blaster

I decided this morning that i don´t like the hollow look from the front:

The muzzle is so big, it´s to easy to look inside the hollow barrel.

So i made a small part to place inside, after all is black it should be no longer that visible as now, but giver more detail and add some "realism".

Like what you've done here, though what made you go for the metal fins aren't they the same as found on the e-11 ANH variant on this blaster too?

I've got the MR version of this which really is nice (better by a mile than the e-11). I'll see if I can post some pictures so you have some form of reference if you like.

I was fed up with all the same Boba-styled EE-3s, and as my Webley is a slighly different version then the one they used for filming, i decided to go one step further and make a more advanced EE-4 instead of the same ever EE-3.

These fins are somehow closer to the ROTJ-E11 fins than the fins they used on Bobas gun (which were the same as on the ANH-E11). If i may be bored one day with the actual look, the fins are easily replaced with t-track.

Thanks, i already have a lot of pics for the movie-version. But thanks for your offer. :)

I will give you a blank check. Put any amount you want on it.

Really nice man! I can't wait to see it completed. Keep the good work coming.
