Supernatural 1967 Impala Conversion

Don't forget, that c-pillar trim should be the same for Impala, Caprice, BelAir, Biscayne - 2 doors, 4 doors, convertibles. From both the 67 and 68 years. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

The speakers are 6" Audivox rampage speakers. There's a few types (as far as wattage goes). Not sure on exactly which ones the car uses. Considering it's a prop car, could be the crap 35watters. No idea. If you go back to post #229 of this thread, scornell1 uses model # TRY-36, which are 120watt.

I went for 6x9 versions, as the 4 door hardtop has 2 6x9 holes factory pressed into the rear shelf. No need for cutting/drilling.

The "rain catcher" trim is the drip rail trim, and the other is the roof rail weather strip retainer. Again, not reproduced, however these are 4 door hardtop specific. Fastback are different, and post sedans don't have a retainer.

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup Yeah I'm missing some pretty key parts but hopefully I'll luck out somewhere:p

I'm going to be painting my doors soon. What did you use to clean them or get them ready for paint? Also did you mask the metal trim pieces on the door or peel them off?

Is it good to do the carpet for the doors first or after the paint job? There is no one in my town to help me so I will have to do this on my own! :wacko

I was also wondering about the material that goes around the rear speakers. Is there padding I need to get for underneath it and is it glued down?

Sorry for all the questions.. I just know you guys are the experts and I don't want to screw anything up...

Thanks again for the help! (y)D

SO good news last week. Had to remove fuel tank, drain it, clean it and put a new strainer sock on the feed line. Replaced fuel pump,
flushed the lines and replaced a couple of hoses and she fired right up. Front and rear shocks are in, rear springs are in. Next week is manifold which is being shipped, carb, distributor, plugs, and wires, which I already have.

Need to order another sway bar as I ordered the wrong one like a dummy. I might just go ahead and order front and rear. Anyone have a preference?

Until all of that comes in I still need to swap control arm bushings, and tinker with the AC. Does anyone recommend what parts should be replaced simply due to age. I am assuming rubber but what specifically.

Hey IM new to the family of doing the supernatural clone I have a question I bought a 67 Biscayne for 380 bucks anold man owned it and he died and it's all original but a few pieces are missing front hubs, front brake drums, steering wheel, and front wheels, along with the motor and transmission it needs slot of work. I've been reading this post for two days now and I have a serious question my car has the frame rails around the windows, the roof needs to be replaced due to rust eating through a small area, quarter panels need replacing, floor pans need replacing everything else is solid and complete. IM wanting to do the pollsters conversion I understand all the risks but if I change the roof, rocker panels with pillarless doors, and other things can it be done? By the way awesome work to all of you guys your cars look great compared to mine.

It could be done, but it'd be quite a task, and a costly one at that. For the time and money, you'd be better off buying a proper 4 door pillarless hardtop.

Thank you Russ for the info I know a guy with a body shop one of my best friends he converted a Buick grand national front end, doors, and interior in a 76 el camino pretty sure he could help me on the swap how can you post pics?

Any chance you guys can help me with any of this? :D

I didn't spray my door panels. I left them black, so I can't help with that question.

Regarding the material around the rear speakers, do you mean the parcel tray itself? It covers the whole rear shelf; or are you talking about something else?

If it is, this is what you're looking for: http://www.classicindustries.com/1967/impala/parts/p6301s.html

The material comes attached to the board, and it simply sits in place. You have to cut holes for the speakers.

I'm going to start painting the B-Pillars and Kick Panels with the SEM Buckskin today.

What's your process for cleaning and getting the paint to stick better?

I did a test paint and the paint seems to come off pretty easy when rubbed.

Again I'm new to all of this... :p

Also I got a new headliner and sail panels but they only had them in black.... Would the SEM paint be able to cover them?

Thanks again for your help with all of this. :D

I just used warm soapy water, and gave everything a real good scrub down. Didn't use any adhesive or prep products. Just straight colour.

The only place it has come off a little is in the kick panels, and that's because I keep hitting it with my foot.

I sprayed my headliner. Worked fine.

Sounds good!
I was also wondering how you guys painted the steering wheel face without covering the chrome.

Thanks everyone for you help with the hunt.

How do I go about selling things here?

I have some props for sale and one huge prop for sale. Not sure how to go about selling and I don't want to break any rules....

There's a classified's section on the forum. The Junkyard. Go to the home page and scroll to the bottom set of sub-forums.

You do need to be a Premium Member to sell things though.
