Superman: Legacy

The "trunks or no trunks" debate kind of fascinates me. I know styles change and the character was designed 86 years ago, but people still think trunks sonehow make the costume goofy or unbelievable? Superhero costumes are unrealistic, as are their powers. We should all just accept that and move on.
Of course, that's not to say that some live action costumes aren't better designed than others.

Exactly...how about they just wear some Underoos? Lol. In fact, put some on Krypto too. Imagine him coming out In a pair as the audience lets out one big " Aaawwwwweeeeee!...how cute!" Lol

I just realized: on that packaging, why is Superman thinking about little boys Underoos? And he seems a little too happy about it.

I love the herding breeds. I've had border collies in the past, and I have an aussie today.
For my borders who passed away the heartbreak never goes away.

I just don't think Superman needs a dog...ahem..I mean, giant distraction in a movie. Yes, I know...I grew up with Donner films. I'm no comic dude, admittedly and I'm not a huge Superman fan anyways. I was when I was a kid. I went from Spider-man to Superman to Batman. I don't really have a stake in this...just trying to mingle outside the Star Wars threads. I'm finding out fast I just need to go. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

I feel like a little goes a long way.

In 'Return of the Jedi' the Ewoks would have been fine in a smaller role (as was originally intended). They only became a problem when they were given the role of being the main insurgents doing the heavy battling on Endor.


Superman's dog might only be in the movie for the scene in the trailer, for all we know. Any onscreen appearance is enough to justify a shelf full of stuffed dogs in the toy aisles. That had to be part of the motive for it.

I going to take Krypto as a good sign. While it's possible to use him badly, Superman's doggo is fundamentally incompatible with grimdark. Sure, he could be corny, but the antidote to corniness is sincerity, and I think Gunn showed he's capable of that in GOTG3 with Rocket's backstory.

Agreed about selling the toy but I fail to see any comparison for the Ewoks, who are a tribe, as opposed to a dog with super powers. My main response to the trailer was justified, as the next day, all I heard people talk about was " Krypto"...lol. Watching the trailer again caused a different stir. Did we really need to see Superman make out with Lois over and over? Donner created a build up...a romance, if you will. This version? They're already in bed right out of the gate.

Meh. It's a few kisses in a trailer. It doesn't tell us much about their relationship arc.

Even if it does, I'm still not convinced it's a problem. Superman TV & movies have done the early stages of Clark & Lois a bunch of times. Maybe this movie just doesn't make that the centerpiece again. It does not look like an origin movie in general.

Yeah, but 4-6 months of that was probably spent on Nathan Fillion's hair.

I don't mind Krypto as I'm just accepting this movie will obviously lean a little more into the campier side of the Superman comics. As long as Gunn doesn't go full GoG or Suicide Squad then I'm good (although that Ghostbusters looking kaiju has me concerned).

My only thing is why was he so playful seeing his master beat up?

The more i hear people say, "Give us something new" the more i think they really don't want it. If they didn't then remakes after remakes wouldn't happen because there would be no demand. Movies today have become nothing more than "our New Burger" at a fast food joint. They advertise it. You'll try it atleast once. After that, they could care less if you come back for more. They'll just make another "New burger" to whet your appetitie for something new but at the end of the day, it's just another crappy burger. To me, the trailer should serve to draw people in, not push them away. There is no way, after seeing this trailer, will i give this a thought. How people aren't Supermanned, Spidermanned, Star Warsed out at this point is beyond me. Left over Thanksgiving Turkey weeks later seems better at this point and i can't stand Turkey...lol. On a positive note...i dig the music.

Bryan Singer said of sequels that people want "the same, but different." Even minor changes to costumes (not just the super-suits but "regular" clothes) were made in his X-Men movies, and you see that continuing in other sequels and reboots.
People want "different," but not that much.
