Superman: Legacy

Wow… well to each his own. I feel Williams Superman score was one of his best.

I knew that comment was gonna be disagreed with.

I still think JW's Superman theme is objectively very good. It's easily my favorite Superman theme in the history of the franchise. But I don't like it quite as much as JW's very best melodies: Jaws, the ANH force theme, the ESB imperial march, Raiders, etc. Just my opinion.

You are 100% on-point.

The Williams Superman score is regarded as one of his best ever and ALWAYS played live anytime a symphony presents an evening focusing on the breadth of his work.

As a matter of fact, the Superman Theme was the encore selection played when I attended symphonies in both San Antonio and Denver, years apart, for separate John Williams programs.

I gotta say, I like that Clark looks like a nerd. As he should. He didn't just look like Superman had simply put on glasses.

I love the they’ve taken the Nutty Professor route with Clark Kent.

Excellent disguise, Clark!

But why did they give him a terrible hair-piece glued on the front of his head? It looks ridiculous. Where does all that extra front mop go when he becomes Superman?

I really didn't like any of the Snyder Superman efforts and have never been a DC fan, other than the original Superman and Superman Returns, which I think incidentally nailed the tone.
Whilst I welcome a return to optimism in the Superman universe, this trailer just made everything look like one of those cheesy CW TV shows.
John Murphy's awful verion of the John Williams theme added nothing.
One plus, there is a dog in the film, albeit CGI.
Can't say this has made me want to see this at the cinema, I might give it a look if and when it gets to Netflix.
I'll stick with Marvel.

The Williams Superman theme has the distinction (along with Batman '66) of having the instruments say the name of the title character. DA-dada-da-da-SU-per-man

Actually, it's "su-per-MAN, da DA da da daaaa." ;)

That's how we sang it in school when I was a kid, no joke!

But your point is dead-on.

Broccoli-haired Clark works fine IMO. He looks like a young guy in 2024 but it's not too far removed from the classic image. The actor might be wearing an extra hairpiece for the Clark scenes (or maybe not) but the difference is not too big.

Frankly, they are doing what they can to cope with a massive problem in the franchise. Superman not wearing a mask is absurd. I mean, it was already a stretch in the 1930s. Now in the modern era of camera phones, CCTV surveillance, facial recognition software . . . it's way past the breaking point.

Somehow the glasses and hair actually lend to a narrower impression of his face imo, where the Superman look is much squarer.

Loved it.

I am pre sold on Gunn anyway, and I still didn’t expect the Krypto bound into shot to make me crack a smile that big

Then “take me home”

Then saving the girl…

Let’s goooooooooooo
The kid raising the flag amid total chaos really got me.
