Studio scale Tantive IV

:cool I can hardly believe it is sitting there myself. I always wanted to do this, but the size of the project was frightening...

BTW,Zorg and Ralphee - If you want to steal the model - I have barricaded the doors and stocked shotguns and canned food. I NEVER sleep and i live in the 4`th floor. GOOD LUCK :ninja:lol

Aww mannnnn, he planned ahead :lol. Swiper......no swiping, as Dora would say!

Still amazed on the engine side of things Lasse, hand making each individual thruster.....pure dedication, and so neat and tidy.

The resin i am using is a german thin flowing / high impact resistant type: Ebalta SG197
50/50 mix. Curing time is 120 minutes.

Courses are hard to give, apart from the videos i make. I try to share as much as i can here :)

Man, even your casting is perfect. Good lord, 120 minutes to cure? I guess 2 hrs to cure will eliminate almost any shrinkage? Thanks for the info and can't wait to see your next update.

wow that is a long curing time indeed.

your taking the level of detail to new heights

the engine detail is outstanding.

Actually Lasse is one of the greatest casting masters. In my opinion, his resin casting quality is as good as those big Japanese resin kit manufacturers such as Volks, Wave, Workshopcast, etc.

I have bought a Vader's TIE from him. It's topnotch!

Thank you for those kind words :cool always nice to hear!!!
I can rip the mold after 80 minutes, and let the part finish curing in open air. A good thing is to heat the parts for 20 minutes at 55 degrees Celcius after they have cured in room temp (i never do)

The large parts are cast and the molds for more small stuff is curing...:)

Absolutely stunning! Your workmanship is second to none. I'm glad to hear you are not worried about finding the exact kit parts to detail the model. Could you tell us what particular model kits you like to use for detailing? Do you even have favorites?

I have no favorite kits, but usually i prefer 1:35 tank kits.
I rarely use original parts. Great as the studio model is, it lack some finesse to a lot of the detail. These things were built according to how much and how close up they would be seen on film. The Tantive IV was originally meant to be the main ship (Falcon) so they spent a lot of time on it. It still have portions that are not finished, especially around and in between the thrusters. It is a nice oportunity to make it complete. The "HERO" side also have more detail than the other side.
