Sorry to bother you all, I was just searching around and was suprised that the Marauder was never available in even rough kit form...I figured there had to be one, but I could not find it...so I thought I would ask.

    Thanks in advance.

    I hear ya!

Right now I'm taking this thing one piece at a time to make sure I get it right. I have a casting of an original that is my main reference- not good enough to recast, but more than adequate reference for my re-build. The only part I didn't have were the spears, but with a few photos of the original, I think I've nailed it. The only part I haven't started yet is the engine; I need to find someone to turn the main part in aluminum or something slimilar.

The next big problem will be casting- with all the sharp little protruding details, this may be tricky.

    Updates will be forthcoming!

    Thanks Kurt!

I've been sitting on this casting (not literally- its sharp!) for about 12 years and I finally feel like my skills are up to the task of recreating it. I almost gave this thing away to a friend several year ago when I first started getting into studio scale- boy am I glad that didn't happen!

Random thought here about this particular design: Putting aside its 'Buck Rogers' heritage, this would have made a great Klingon fighter.

You know... That would be a really fun painting project for one of the old Monogram kits! Maybe swap out the original wing guns with something a little more Bird of Prey-like... Oooo, I likey!

Mark, can you post a pick of the Draconian fighter next to the Starfighter?

Not really- I've been working on the same 6 models for over 10 years!

    BTW,

I took the Work-In-Progress Marauder to an IPMS show this past weekend along with my other SS models. I had a lot of people not recognize it, even with the Monogram kit next to it.

Finally some updates! (last few pics)

Thanks for the pic Chris- seeing it in primer like that helps to see some of the shapes- answered a few nagging questions for me. I though you were strictly BSG- straying into the 25th Century a little?

Little glitch in the project- I took several parts with me when I went out of town for Thanksgiving, and I left the box there! I had to have my parents mail it back to me, so when it comes I'll hop back on it. In the mean time, I'm trying to get the sled out of my system.

Well here it is folks- the completed kit! Its been long road...

    http://flickr.com/photos/10867551@N00/sets/72157605197661465/

The pictures show all the major pieces; the only thing not shown are the laser-cut fins for the back of the spears and the red plexi windows and the decals (all those are on the way and will be included in the kit). These are all the first full parts out of all the molds. As you might be able to see in some of the pics, there were just a few of areas that trapped air bubbles. I'll be able to engineer the vast majority of that out as I start casting these up- most are just a matter of cleaning out bits of stray silicone in the mold.

I've also started building up a full model from these first castings so I can anticpate any problems, make up assembly instructions with pictures, etc. I'll have some sort of tutorial for assembly and painting up soon.

I'll start casting these up within the coming week for those who have pre-ordered.

Email me at mbradley3@cfl.rr.com if you are interested in a kit. To start off, I'm going to limit the number of orders so I can make sure the molds are holding up, so if you are seriously interested, please let me know. Price of the full kit will be $330 plus shipping. Shipping cost shouldn’t exceed about $30 US. (send me your zip or postal code for an exact shipping quote). I had to go up on the price a little; but if you pre-ordered and want a second kit, I'll honor the previous price.

The next natural question: how long will it take if I order? Honestly it could be a little while, but I'd say around 6-8 weeks; sooner if I can get my other projects wrapped up. I've got a busy June coming up, but I'll spend any free time working on these. The only reason I'm going to accept any orders now is because I've had a couple requests from outside the forums, and I want to open it up to those here who I know were interested too.

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive of this project!

    Mark

I spoke with Mark a few weeks ago. I am not certain if this is what you are asking about, but he told me he is turning out about 3 Marauder kits a week to those who ordered them,... in the order they were paid for. ;)
