Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

OK thanks for the info, but I dont know if we can find the Upol brand here, is that an automotive primer or a modelling primer ?

Yeah the white tamiya primer is really bad, it's thick, don't cover nor stick well and it's shiny.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Julien, I just gave up on using any more primer tonight. Being impatient I couldn't wait till tomorrow to get these done. Then about 2 mins ago I found a full can of primer...DOH!

Just got back from a family dinner & decided to plough on regardless of adding any more primer. I've basically finished them tonight, just the mount point to drill now.

I first used some Tamiya rattle gun metal

Then added the white barrel & a light mist of White all over.

Next was the flat black all over aside from the barrel, & adding the A wing red to the gun ends.

A misting of a pre mixed blue/grey from one of the panels on the body & a good all bout of weathering & this is what you get.

Hopefully these will be in place tomorrow.

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

WOW those look fantastic Guy!
Just be real careful when you drill into
the wells, if they are reinforced well
you will have no problem!

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Killer Guy ! I can see you paint your fingers at the same time, I use to do it too ! :lol

Can't wait to see them in place and finally to be able to see this awesome model finished !

What's next my friend ?

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

I'm dreading it mate, although I have worked out how to do it if it all goes **** up, I think???

Good thing its all going to go smoothly eh! ;-)

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Cheers Julien, Its still needs quite a bit of paint work on the back end & the fins need weathering on 3 sides but thats all in a days work I hope.

Oh yeh! I forgot I need to finish the canopy as well!

Whats next. To be honest I just worked out how many resin kits I have un built & I guess the one I was working on before the A wing was the shuttle so I could try n get that finished. I also have a Tie Bomber to consider.

I really do want to tackle a build of my own design as well.

Got some good news as well, Where expecting our first baby in May 2011 so I need to get my arse in gear.

Thanks Mate, I'm going for future world leader, may as well start at the top eh!

As long as I dont have to deal with soccer I dont mind :lol

We're both really chuffed thanks. I guess it was about time as I also turn 40 later this year, time to be an adult at last I thinks?

Best thing is I'll get to use the R2D2 baby grow I bought at CIV, now thats what I call thinking ahead :cool

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Cheers Lee, I always doubted myself when it came to these guns for some reason. When I last did work on this I really took a back step from them & considered paying someone to do them for me. I'm so so glad I didn't go down that route now.

Another couple of days & it will be 100% completed, & prob my first build that will be also. I think everything I've ever done is still a WIP.

Beta start thinking bout that Tie Bomber next I reckon?

Re: ID help Studio Scale A wing.

Yeah, been looking at my TIE, more so, its looking at me with disgust for being left so long, i built the engines, and cut the cockpit dome, and that was it lol.
Ill get to it, not yet, as i want to work more on the RT, drag the snowspeeder over the finish line, along with the cloud car....and another project i have that may make progress on before Xmas.

Re: Studio Scale A wing.

I don't know if thats not the original filming mini
it looks damn close.......! I don't think there is that much more you could want out of it, some of the limitations are in the parts you had to work with,
but you really made the best of it!:lol:thumbsup Remarkable the ability to capture the essence of the original from the building to painting and weathering........great job once again Guy!:thumbsup

Oh and congrats on the baby!:lol

Re: Studio Scale A wing.

Fantastic Guy~! Thumb UP :)
I can't classify the difference between origianl prop and your SS A-Wing.

Maybe, you stole this from Lucas museum.:thumbsup
Your painting skill is the best of the best in this forum...I will request you the painting for my SC :)

thanks Eric.

Re: Studio Scale A wing.

Eric mate, thats very kind of you to say. Although its Icing on a cake the painting, one day I hope to be able to make as good a cake as you.

Re: Studio Scale A wing.
