Video part 4 is uploading but we have the first mold. Here is the lower saucer mother mold over the silicone. I'll open it on Monday.

Wait to watch the video it will answer all your questions.

Watching this build is reminding me of the STTNG magazine, that had a big article on the making of the big Enterprise D model. They poured some huge silicone molds on that one, I don't want to think how many thousands of dollars' worth.

Been watching from the beginning, it's all very informative. Just finished video 4, thanks again for posting that. Why did you opt to make the mother mold out of ultra cal instead of fiberglass? Is it a strength issue, cost, or combination of something else? Truly amazing so far.

Thanks Morris I talk about that in the video. Fiber glass and Epoxy would have been about 100 bucks for the mother mold on just the saucer or I use polyester which really stinks, is sticky, and messy stuff. This mold from UltraCal is light weight for what it is and much less money.

I couldn't resist and opened the mold. At first I was just trying to see how heavy the whole things was and I found I could lift it easy as the entire mother mold just pulled away in my hands. So I sat it on the floor and one video remove the silicone glove to find it just perfect. I am ready tomorrow to mold the top side and we have the saucer and enough silicone to do all the rest of the big parts.

Pictures and video after I take Rosie for her morning walk.

I've just watched your videos for making the molds for the saucer. So, I thought I should revisit this thread and read it again. What a great bunch of information .
Thx! Steve (y)(y)(y)(y)

Very nice work again....it is just amazing seeing it come together.
I really feel like I am along for the ride.
Never saw a mold like this being made ....great job of sharing.
Thanks,
Mobius

I have big plans to put here in space with green screen and finish my CGI bridge, build a chair and put myself on the bridge for a good finish to this project. Heck my wife even had me a captains shirt made.

Steve

That would be so cool, have you seen the documentary Steve that William Shatner made called The Captains?
