Re: Stormtrooper pepakura
yeah i probably am a perfectionist
rosskow yet believe 'true perfection has to be imperfect' (to quote an oasis lyric).
the enjoyment had, skills learnt and problems solved while creating something is where its at
Stymie924. there's no magic invisible point at where something becomes either good or bad, thats just how we are trained to think and judge things, the thing with art & design/creation, its all good! there is no bad!
if you look at abstract art its not about the realism of the thing, if it still conveys the message it holds true and thats the main purpose in my eyes, if you posted a picture of your build and people say stormtrooper then it is a stormtrooper! get a thread up with your build and join in with the fun mate

) (sorry for the rant, i've just woken up).
Lord DarkFinger thanks friend.
Ourphil P40, i'm thinking thats the stuff for bridging gaps in panels, never used it but if its like the P38 consistency id not use it.
i attempted the indents a few times and couldn't get them right, i ended up cutting out the exact shape of the indent, then used some milliput putty on the inside to back the hole.
i flattened out some milliput between to 4mm riser so it would be an even thickness, waited about 1-2 hours for it to get stiffer and then i pressed it against the back of the hole, it will bend and suit the curve of the form.
now from the front it will have a clean smooth recessed indent, once fully set i backed it up on the inside with some P38, just to be sure when i was pressing it from the outside it wouldn't pop out.
i used some fresh milliput and squeezed it along the 90 degree angle of the indent with my finger, then wet rubbed it smooth with my finger. it might not be the right indent angle first try but just do a few more layers. hope this helps a bit mate.
