Stop Motion Studio ESB AT-ST!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Some chassis research, things get tricky under here as even with the ref we have, its still a maze of glueblobs and parts that really play havoc with the brain lol.
All parts are just taped up here, still some tweaking to do i guess.

There is so much wrong with the prop in way of rough build, its also a factor making things tricky, the ME109 bracket for one, the ILM's array sit on a mountain of hotglue pushing it more fore of the shoulder, but i decided to amend and make a nice L bracket for it to sit on.

Once i get some feedback from the group, i can move on a bit more i guess!

Wow that looks awesome ! Yeah indeed way cleaner than the ILM prop ! :lol
Looking great Lee, cant wait to see more !

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Cheers bro, its giving me headaches now lol, scared to glue anything in case i figure something else conflicts lol.
I still need to find whatever is attached to the 312T crankcase front, bummer is its hidden by the Flak sheilds and ive searched all the F1's i have, mind you, i havent had a look at my Matra engine yet, so off i go lol.

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Bro, I think you can glue your parts even with the best glue it wouldnt be hard to remove if there is any conflict IMHO.

I think first you should sand and polish your alloy parts as the sides are very rough . That's what I did on my X-Wing parts (even if they will be hidden lol :p), that's quick to do with regular sandpaper, it will help paint to stick to the metal and you'll get a nice finish. I know those flaws are hardly noticiable when unpainted but they will pop up once painted.
I hope you'll find this part, but no doubt you will !

I love those B&W pics ! :thumbsup

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Dont worry, parts are smooth, i think the flash picked that out TBH as the whole set was soaked in alcohol to remove grease, then i rubbed it all down with wire wool, and finally rubbed with a brass brush in the dremel, just so parts will bite.
This took me the best of a whole day to do lol, and even now i still scuff anywhere that needs bonding.

Yeah this intermediate part on the 312t is a pig, i fear we may have to fudge it somewhat, but me and Allan will keep looking, never say die i guess.

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Small update to the build, not much has changed, still researching the model, and working on her where and when i can, so many areas still need finalising, anybody hot hot hot at ID work LOL?
Think were missing a kit or two here and there, its so obscure and Joe Johnston really did go through a truck load on this, id love to know what else he may have had in his arsenal.

Looking very, very nice. Looks finished from a distance. Everything is so neat and tidy. :cool :cool
Good luck with the ID's.

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Thanks guys, i know the TESB isnt to everyones taste, but its become an obsession for me now lol.
In its original form, its quirky, unfinished and a mess, think thats why i like it lol.
Rats, cheers bud, yeah were around 7 or so parts out now, and there really hard ones...but we live in hope!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Thanks Matt!
Ok, finally got the chin gun almost complete, took longer than i anticipated, was a pig trying to line it all up like the prop, but i think its working out!
Just need to add one part on the underside between the Churchill fenders, and the hose later!

That looks awesome Lee. I have to admit , i think i like the ESB one better too , then then as you know i like the ESB stuff in general!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Thanks guys, its nice to know that some like what were doing with this one, taking it to the next level!
Should have quite a good update this weekend, going to hopefully get closer to finishing up the legs and feet.
Just waiting on some parts to fully finish the head, and the correct neck boot is enroute too as the one fitted is just a very close stand in...woot!

On a sad note, some small scratchbuilding may have to take place of a minor amount of kitparts that are proving nigh impossible to ID, but in all honesty, i can live with that going by what has been ID'd on this sucker!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Great build Lee,

Looking forward to your finishing it and displaying in its painted glory. She's a beauty. Also interested to see the bits revealed ...... in due course, of course

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Hey Lee, great job. This thread had gone under my radar until just now. What with the Speeder I see you really are on an ESB kick!

Keep up the good work my friend :)
