Stop Motion Studio ESB AT-ST!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Nick, cheers buddy, glad you approve LOL. She's not a patch on a speeder build but i like it haha!
Iam really on a TESB kick right now bud, and theres so much more i want to do in time....of course, the lesser seen stuff. Still want to get into a TESB escape pod build, just wish more ref were out there, all we know is 8rad and Leichter hulls for either pod, and multiple F1 rims for engines, thats all the pics will give up sadly!
Just love the 30 second wonders from the best episode in the OT!

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

AT ST looks fantastic Lee, I'm very jealous..

I can't think what the TESB escape pod is...must be going senile. I know it'll be obvious though. I've watched that movie a least a million times as it's my fav too. Are you able to show the pics you mention?

Cheers

Phil

Re: ESB AT-ST scratch!

Phil.....heresy i say LOL. OK the pods that drop the Probe droids onto Hoth?
One is made from multiple faceted Leichter hulls (my fave), the other 8 rad hulls!

I think its Larry Tann holding one on the Chronicles book buddy, but i do have a pic somewhere, ill just need to find it.

Its one of those lost treasures IMO, fast dirty building and probably, now broken to pieces!

My bad Phil, maybe i should have said despatch pods :lol

Right heres a pic, not sure where i got it, so if it offends the owner it being here, i apologise and will remove, but god i love this pic, i could do with about 20 or so more to really ID this thing, id kill to build one haha!

BTW, youll notice Phil, the smaller pod, is the Leichter variant, the larger, the 8rad, the engines look like two stacked BT44 rear rims, and there may be some 1/48 Bandai Panther in there too....such a teaser of a photo!

Wanted to do one to display with my Probe Droid TBH!

Guy, i tend to stand on my head, and look at the pics cross eyed while chanting LOL.
I have no clue buddy, i just love finding parts, its part of the build fun.

Buddy you owe me ONE Pana, not two my friend lol, ill mail it to you in a while....thanks for the heads up Guy!

I've been working on one....slowly. Doing the 8 -rad version. I'll post some pics when I get home. The engine bell reminds me of the ones used on the Rebel transport.

Flint, i for one would love to see her, hell start a thread, this is very cool news!
As for the engine bells, hmm i guess there similar to the transport, but not quite right, i do feel they are two stacked F1 rear wheels, BT44's are close for the Leichter variant (the 8rad pods look more stubby), ill have to check some others i have for you maybe?

Only a small update this weekend guys, took me a while to fiddle with this lot here to get as close a fitment to the prop as possible.

Youll notice the Ferrari 312t part in the lower right of the 8rad fender, insane, ILM cut this part in half, glued the upper of the cut to the back of the 312t engine casing, and the lower to what would be the stop motion block on the prop!
I also added what appears to be a flimsy strip of styrene inside the lower fender, its kinda warped and melted on the prop, so i did my best to replicate this with a heat gun lol.

Ive made a rough shod trailing egde leg rail (on the back of the C600 part on the leg) i may use it if we cant turn up the correct part, but i will scrach a better part as this one is a tad off here and there!

'scuse the pics, i wanted to take less blurry ones, then the cam died a death lol.

Made a start on the feet today, the main shroud had to be handmade by heat forming styrene over as tube, as were just clueless as to what kit its from.
Various aircraft hulls were looked at, but nothing that stood out.
The rest of the parts, as most know, AMT X1 hull, Lotus MKIII suspension components, and the toe from the M5A1.

Still need to add the centre claw, and i think i have a hunch on the kit used by ILM, just need to put the hours in looking lol.

Kinda transforms the model with the feet built up, there not perfect by any standard...but im kinda happy!

The toes are articulated, so ill show that off down the line, you can now also see the correct neck boot in the last pic too!

Ha, yeah pretty happy Jason, even at this stage in the build, its wonderful to sit back and admire...to all you guys, i owe a lot man!

The foot shrouds were a pig, ive never formed or shaped styrene before, and once heated, it kinda has a mind of its own lol...but after a few attempts, i got two that i was able to fettle and fit lol.

Still cant wait for your build, itll be stellar, and c,mon armature dudes, you all sleeping or what lol?

That's looking killer lee! Very poised! I know I've seen the neck sleeve in an auto shop at one time, only in larger scale? Around the size of the one they used on the two-foot ROTJ pyro. Do you have any info on it? From a carb intake maybe?
