more progress....collar facing made, sewn in, collar looks 100% better now. Tried batting for sleeves, looked awful so I did trapunto. Yes it's too heavy but it will be better after iron it. Got sleeve band re-made and sewn in place on sleeve. Mine does not go into the sleeve seam, I made it removeable so I can change to a different dept. color as desired. I see Scotty in my future. got the rank pin sewn to the rank pad. Will do the same on the shoulder strap and for the security device too. Got a second shoulder strap started, Just need to press it and add the buckle plate. Next is cutting out the black satin lining and sewing it altogether. Will hand stitch it to the jacket when it's done.
Since you can't get the original chain (the upper two 4-link sections in the bottom pic), I made my own (lower section of chain in the bottom pic) by combining the two different chains shown in the top pic. It's not perfect but beggars can't be choosers and the original chain is no longer being made.
from 3 feet away, you cannot tell one from the other.
This looks great! My wife is working on my uniform but is confused. The pattern says "cut one self" were not clear what "self' means. Anyone know what that means?
Many times when you cut out fabric, the fabric is folded so you cut out two pieces - a right and a left piece. "Cut one self" means cut one piece out of the maroon fabric. Do not fold the fabric.
