Stark Industries at Dragon*Con

I saw this thread a long time ago and I was completely stunned by how well you all pulled it off. But I have recently been searching for a close match to Tony's blue tie from his navy pinstripe suit from Afghanistan. Have you had any success getting a good match?

It's my understanding that both the suit and the tie were custom made for the film, so for the most part I have had little luck with it. As much as I would like to be dead on, short of hiring someone to make me a suit and tie I aim for "close". I found that the trick to selling it is more about color and suit fit. Whatever suit you go with take it to a good tailor, it makes all the difference in the world.

This is the perfect example of how sometimes the simplest costume outshines the more elaborate ones. Well done, it looks like you had a great time.

Funny this should be bumped up. A friend of mine is working on a Stark (he just got a pair of the glasses he wears in the Jerico scenes) but we are having alot of trouble getting hold of one of those MIT rings. Although he wears specifically the 2007 ring, any would do! Did you have any success in finding one?

Ah, yes the MIT ring. I have seen a handful up on EBay, usually for a fair amount of money and too old for my purpose. I had hoped to find a replica but no one wants to really touch it.

Like I mentioned above, while the fun is being dead on with this costume, 98% of the people won't know what the little details are and presentation is almost more important.

I just picked up a new suit in the style of the "Congressional Hearing" scene in IM2... matching that was a challenge too

You need to take one of your fellow "cosplayers" and have him dress up like a Senator. This way you can run around D*C 2010 telling him to go $%#@& himself! Make sure he is a good friend and make sure he knows you are merely "acting!"

Will this make its debut at Wondercon or will you hold until Comic-con?

While Bret, Rex and I will be more less Marvel comic-style characters, we definitely want to get pictures with you.

Hmm, I haven't thought about it till now but I'm pretty sure I could get my hands on an MIT class ring, at least one to borrow to make a mold. But, I highly doubt I can find one with a proper graduation date, most of my MIT friends are recent grads. >.< No promises here but I can see what I can do.

And I'm totally bummed I missed those shots haha. Perhaps this year there will be a gaggle of Ironette dancers? :lol

Actually, for SDCC, I have an Ironette Dancer group. So of course i"ll be brining the costume to D*C, too!

Haha well I can't see that being very hard for you, you practically saw that design coming almost 2 years ago huh? It'd probably take you 2 seconds to convert your femme ironman outfit into that! (Good call there! Who knows maybe the costume designer took your idea and ran with it haha)

Yea, actually, we decided to do the group costume while we were at SDCC last year and saw the clip of them at the panel. We walked away going "Yup, so doing that next year!"

I was talking wool ;] did i misread that you got a new one...?

In the wool department I do have at least one new suit. Oddly enough I have more suits now than I have ever owned and I don't even wear em on a regular basis.

The new suit is style after the Senate Hearing scene in IM2

I plan to have that at SDCC and D*Con.

And hopefully you will see us at a con
