Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

You misunderstand me. I’m fine with disagreeing with a character or saying he/she/it is not interesting (as I’ve done). I’m against directly insulting and criticizing the actor/actress for portraying such character or stating a dissatisfaction.

If John Said I wish I had more scenes with Rose, I would disagree but it’s his right to make is point. If Adam Driver said I wish my character was more powerful and won the last battle, it might not make narrative sense but he is right to say that. To attack the actors for doing their job is deplorable.

Then I apologise and totally agree with your sentiment on it

Poor Steamboat Willie.

There, there, little guy. Don’t you listen to these haters.

Everyone loves the creative choices you’ve been making, they just don’t know it yet. Rey and the Sequel Trilogy are my faves, and everyone says that “Solo” was a bomb....I mean was THE bomb.

Don’t you ever change. You keep subverting those expectations and making the fans happy. I guarantee it will payoff in the end.

Hey—I’ll watch Wil Smith’s “Aladdin”, this weekend, just for you, pal.

Chin up.

Flawed as Jedi may be, it's a FAR better finale for Luke and his friends than the ST. By a long shot.
Despite my jab at Jedi, I absolutely agree with you. The scenes on the Death Star are some of the best in all cinematic history. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie is lacking. When I watch the trilogy these days, I watch all of SW and Empire, a little of the Jabba's palace stuff, the space battles sequences, and the throne room scenes. The rest of the movie gets fast forwarded through.

Im still ok with emperor returning. I cant seem to figure out how it ruins ROTJ.

The OT is about Luke. It's his journey. Once he learned the truth he set out to save his father and he did just that. The emperor was only a means to help Luke achieve that. Anakin has returned. Emperor returning does not change that Anakin redeemed himself and saved Luke.

I am of belief that emperor is needed at the end because he controlled every event in the saga. How can you close something with out the force reasoning behind it all?

With that said. It was done really poorly. Emperor was brought out left field to fill in seats and sell tickets after TLJ backlash.

Palpatine was around for 4 films and a character briefly noted in the other 2. There should have been more substance in VII and VIII about his return. His arc in the ST has to start and end in one film.

What a mess the ST is. Kathleen Kennedy is not capable of doing her job by overseeing straight cohearant films that start and end together. She oversees it all and allows this mess to happen.

Fast forward? Is everyone still rocking VHS/Beta, or did you know about chapter skipping?

I'm an odd man out and my favorite of the OT has always been ROTJ. I was 5 years old when that came out in theaters and seeing Luke reach the point of being able to handle his own and that black garb and first igniting the green saber... HUGE moments for me. The creatures were awesome, LOVE Jabba's palace, the Speeder Bikes, the half-built DS2 and the Emperor arriving... Luke striking Vader down... For me it was just all so cool and will never be dismantled as #1 in my life. Not the popular choice like most with ESB, but that's just me.

ROTJ does have some effects that look questionable butt over all I don't see the hate for it. The forest battle on endor is the most visually stunning production designs in all of the saga. I love the battle with the beautiful back drop of the Californian red Wood forests standing in as endor. It has that warmth and happyness, the opposite of Hoth. And there is the perfectly done conclusion of Luke's story that was visually and conceptually done to a perfect T.

I do loath the Falcon painting when Billy Dee walks towards it. It's so painfully obvious it's 2d. I alway hated it and will not understand why they didn't build it. And I always saw through the speeder bike effect. It looks obviously cut and paste to me(forest footage with up close actor shots). But I can over look those because of the rest.

Sometimes you just want to skip a scene, not a whole chapter. And I ABSOLUTELY still have a VHS running for when I want to watch the OOT in retro/vintage mode. Looks like utter crap, but the vibe is cool.

It's not my favorite, but I feel the same as you about all the cool stuff in ROTJ. Looks like we're the same age. I was actually watching it last night. The ewok stuff is my least favorite now. I don't skip it, but it's definitely kinda cringey. Everything else is rad.

I'm with you. As a kid seeing all that was mind blowing. I like the OT in order, Jedi is least favourite, but still love it. The throne room scenes are amongst the most iconic in the whole series.

The original Star Wars (ANH) is the only film in the saga that I do not hit the fast forward on...

You’re not alone....

I believe that the Sequel Trilogy creatives fast forward through most of the Original Trilogy when doing their “research”.

They do stop to review the important stuff though, like the “Jedi Rocks” scene in Jedi. That’s the good stuff that represents George Lucas’s vision fulfilled!

I will have words with anyone who calls this scene a mishmash of outdated CGI characters singing nonsensical gibberish accompanied by pointless insert shots of Boba Fett to pander to fans. This scene is high art!

“There has been an awakening in the force.“

“I‘ve felt it too.“

What if the awakening was never Rey, but Palpatine?

Behind the scenes he’s been manipulating everything and everyone. Causing Rey to begin to feel her powers and use them so that Snoke and Ren focus on her and not the fact he’s coming back?

Now that Snoke is dead, Luke is dead, Ren is emotionally damaged and Rey is confused and beginning to be embittered...

Dang, I could save Star Wars.....let me write it!

Honestly I think most people object to them because they were slightly goofy at times and because they were cute. Which are both valid reasons to dislike them. As an adult I can see that, but something about even my cynical heart still really loves them because that's not all they were. Plus I think they're adorable.
