Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

Wow. new Trailer. More whining.

All the previous whining about Threepio referring to the new characters as "my friends"... kinda looks like he's not talking about people in the room, but more looking through the photo album of his memory...

"All we've done... all this time"

"What are you doing there, threepio?"

"taking one last look at my friends"

Just sayin... Getting upset out of context...

Speaking of upset out of context...

Why does anyone think all this Rey, Finn, Kylo, Jumping is in space?

From the leaks or something? I would never have said they were in space.

I don't get how you can look at all those quick shots, which all look cool, and think "THEY'RE RUINING STAR WARS!"

"This is looking worse than TLJ!!!"

What?!?!?!

I haven't read script or story leaks... so if that's what it takes to make this look crap, oh well. Guess I'll be surprised on the 19th

Teaser shows Rey jumping from a FO hangar to the Falcon in space

Could be. But unless you've seen the script...

I mean people are complaining about Destroyers coming out of the ocean... but then complaining the space-horses running on those same ships are in space...

My guess is there's atmosphere wherever they are, and everyone is whining about nothing.

But riding on the outside of a ship in orbit makes no logical sense.
Who's to say the ships aren't within an atmosphere.

I see nothing to suggest they are in orbit.

It shows Rey jumping from a FO hanger to the Falcon's ramp wth Finn standing on it reaching out for her,.....like Joej3rr says, who says that they are in space

We've seen plenty of dark gloomy rain filled scenes in the trailers,....just because it's dark doesn't necessarily mean they are in space

Still not going to see it

J

All of this going on in a shot where an imaginary forcefield, shown to us by a long neon light, is keeping in an atmosphere. Cmon people, its fantasy.

Upset seems like a strong term for the present conversation. Personally I find it amusing and mildly interesting. What's weird is people that seem to be convinced this will be crap but are still going to see it in the theater. Why waste the money and time? (I'm pretty stingy with both)

A better question is why help support this kind of crap getting made? Again and again, time and time again.

I'm guessing it's in space because the shot right before shows the storm troopers getting blown back perhaps by a shift in air pressure? Although if that were the case, they would be sucked forward. Eh, I don't know.

Edit: Never mind. Watching again, you can see the Falcon's engines blasting them back.

Looking at the current marketing, if I were Iger I would want to throw KK and RJ out to space.

In terms of planning, Disney has marketed Star Wars brilliantly. Let’s pretend we were in an alternate universe where TLJ didn’t split the fandom.

Early in the year, we got Rise of the Resistance. Had they spent money developing more rides, it would have been a hit to further hype Star Wars. Coming closer to the release of IX, we have the Mandalorian to get people excited, the release of a single player game to get teenagers hyped (given a new IP takes about 5 years to produce, this was definitely planned).

A concurrent release of Star Wars products to hype the audience that would have created a frenzy and make a killing in the box office.

I don’t know how well Episode IX will do but given the level of marketing and long term planning, the expected hype levels arnt there imo.

100% with you. I don't know anything bar what is seen in the trailers/teasers, and even they can be misleading. In space or not, doesn't bother me

I am still somewhat excited at the moment. May be because of all the excitement around The Mandalorian or because of my young one and me playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii and him getting hyper excited about it and most things SW at the moment.

Of course my own version of how to resolve the story is much better so EP9 won´t be able to compete with that, sooo...

Okay, my version, the gist of it being that Palpy had created the Death Stars as hidden experimental labs. Creating life really consuming a lot of energy (maybe a reason why Kamino was chosen because of all of the natural electricity in the atmosphere?) and especially creating force sensitive life calls for a HUGE generator. And what is the LARGEST generator of controlled energy? Yup, ya guessed it the DSs. The Geonisisans thought they created a huge killing machine, but in truth the built a large BREEDING chamber. A hidden lab. Hidden in plain sight and guarded like there was no tomorrow. Palpy knew that his first experiment in creating life was a failure because he was not able to exact enough control over the specimen, so he went further and created a Super Duper HOMUNCULUS!!! Enter Rey.

By the way, HOMUNCULI in Alchemy are artificially created HELPERS! See what we got here? Is Darth Vader a helper demon or what?!

So, the SUPER DUPER Homunculus that should be Rey was unfortunately lost during the Destruction of the DS2. But guess what?! Scouring the debris in the aftermath of the battle of Yavin, Rebel Alliance agents found a superfortified sphere that contained a baby girl. Awwww... and they brought it to the Princess who appointed close friends to keep an eye on her. Let´s call them Gowan and Neru Cars. They cared for baby Rey for quite some time but at one point they were found out by agents of the old Empire becoming the First Order! A chase ensued and they had no other chance than leave their adopted child on the planet Jakku, promising their return and leaving in a hurry. The kid did not understand why she was left, leaving her traumatized. Or kind of indifferent? Anyway, loads of opportunities for dark emotions to take the kid over.

Yes, Palpy planned a lot of this way in advance. Let´s see how it really plays out in 9. But I guess Rose Tico is going to mess everything up. Poor Rose! OR! She is the saviour because she is good with horses. Yes, I am a bit mean spirited towards her, due to the lack of not being fleshed out more in Episode 8.

Going off the trailer with his chair moving toward Rey, I think Palpatine is not either physically there and is a sort of malicious spirit in cyborg style form. Or he is there physically but cannot move independently
