Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

I always thought a better explanation for how powerful the force should be in users was its "power" being divided by users. Dozens of Jedi means each can do some light side stuff. As the number of Jedi lessen, each can do more powerful light side stuff. With only 1-2 jedi (Ben and Yoda), they can do even more, like appear after death. With just 1, they both learn super-quick and can do advanced stuff almost immediately. This explains how both Luke and Rey learned things so quickly and were doing advanced things out of the gate.

Another reason for the Sith to only have 2 members -- each one controls half the Dark-side force. These 2 really are more powerful than the numerous Jedi. As soon as the apprentice trains enough, he kills his master and takes all the power, restarting the Sith cycle.

Seems very much in line with how I seem to recall the Nova Force works in Marvel comics. Having more Nova Corps members dilutes the power level any individual has- when there is only one, they are incredibly powerful.

That would explain a lot about the Force in AGFFA, when you frame it that way...

Is the Force like "swag"?

Just like George adding a new Sith apprentice every film of the prequels, it just seems like why not further develop the new characters you already have? Not that BB8 is much of a character. It's more an observation really and not much of a criticism.

I would've TOTALLY preferred a prequel story where Darth Maul was the ONLY other Sith aside from Palpatine, fully fleshed out as a charcter, with Anakin facing him and losing several times throughout the years, eventually being deceived into "selling his soul" to the Dark Side in order to beat the "devil" (the visual imagery is there), but losing himself in the process. It could still play off the whole Messiah allegory Lucas seemed to want to go for, while flipping it on its head.

I beg to differ, I think he (she? it?) was very much a character in TFA. First time I saw the trailer with BB8 I was like oh god but I really liked him in the movie. TLJ gave some character moments as well, some more over the top than others but let’s not get into that. He’s a good addition IMO, could have gone much more into the obnoxious gratuitous Minions direction (ahem Porgs).

How about the disappointment when they rolled D-O out at celebration... audience said and did nothing

JJ actually started to back track because I didn’t think he was expecting such a dead audience reaction..
He's a very odd design. Even I didn't know what kind of reaction to have. But as I've seen more of him, and the R/C versions you can get, and seen more of his mannerisms and how his head tilts or his antennas move. I'm really falling for the little guy.
