Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

I had forgotten about this. But the Jedi Temple Guard's lightsabers as seen in Rebels also fold.

Until you try to run with a double bladed saber hanging off of your belt and it comes down smashing your knee cap. This design is so much more practical for carrying on your belt.
To be fair a normal hilt has its dangers further up as well...prob not that much for Rey though.
When Luke joins the ewok parade at the end of ROTJ I always kinda half expect the wildly dangling V2 to end the Hamill bloodline...
Really EVERY lightsaber type should be worn in some kind of holster but dang it they look so much cooler just hanging off your belt :)

Sorry, back to the movie discussion...

Here’s my take, I think Dark Rey is absolutely real and not a projection or premonition. I think she is Rey’s twin and Palatine’s apprentice. Darth Maul was the Emperor’s apprentice in The Phantom Menace, and he yielded a double lightsaber, Dark Rey has something similar, and we hear Palpatine in the first teaser…………fits in my Tetris stack pretty well.

I think with all the fan speculation from TFA about her being a Skywalker and that never materializing, they just caved and said, “******, OK, she’s a Skywalker. But let’s really mess with them, she has a female twin, a dark side twin! That’ll show them!!!”

So………Luke has a premonition that one of his daughters turns bad and quickly sends off good Rey to Jakku to keep her hidden and safe. Dark Rey somehow finds her way to Uncle Palps who molds her into another Vader like apprentice (hence the Vader breathing in the clip). Luke does go into hiding, both because he failed Ben and can’t protect good Rey and knowing he can’t change the fate of Dark Rey. And in the last shot of The Force Awakens, when Rey comes face to face with Luke, and his eyes well up, it’s not because he’s been found, it’s because he was found by his daughter and he sees his worst fears are coming true. I think Kylo is faced with a dilemma of helping good Rey defeat Dark Rey and Palps, and he can only do that when Luke rises and see’s the good in him, like he did with his father. The end.

A) Coming from a family who made a living ranching and being a cowboy, I am correct.
'Don't look a gift horse in the mouth' - "find fault with something that has been received as a gift or favor."

B) We could have nothing right now. The most exciting thing that could be happening right now could be a new novel? Maybe?

A) It's not a gift or a favor from anyone, not uncle George or Disney. This is purely a profit driven venture, the parks, TV shows, films, toys, comics, are all to make money.

B) I know you grew up with the prequels so there has been a constant stream of SW material to consume through out your life. Maybe if that stopped it would seem like you have "nothing" but all the material that came before DSW is still there. I grew up with the OT, GL made it pretty clear shortly after ROTJ that SW films were done. So fans at the time accepted that the EU was all they would ever get. People were fine with that because it was before there was any expectation of a "franchise". For 20 years the OT was what SW was (I never devled into the EU) but I didn't think I had nothing. It was the greatest set of films and coolest toys ever made! (IMO) I continued to rewatch it every year at least once, made custom shirts, custom battle sabers to fight my brothers with, right into adulthood.
Then came the prequels...cartoons, games, more comics, books, etc. I didn't care for the PT but when I became a father my kid loved it so I was pulled further into SW and had the money to start getting serious about costumes.
Again George was adamant that after the PT there were no more films, that was it! Of course that wasn't "it", he started up again before dumping it in Disney's lap.
It's not as though there wasn't a massive fan base for SW long before the ST was announced or even thought of as serious. DSW isn't making sure we have "something" Star Wars, we've had it for over 40 years.
After the OT I wasn't pining for more SW, I never needed the PT to explain the story and I never needed a ST to conclude the story. I was satisfied with the completed story, and appreciated that I had it.
I hate sounding like an old man but it seems like a lot of young people "need" to have something new and shiny in order to be fulfilled. I've been loving Star Wars for over 40 years without anything new, it's a timeless classic that never needed retconning.
PS, a covertec clip makes carrying a saber easier and saves any unwanted bruising! (best part of the PT) ;)

im surprised no one has mentioned this yet but I watched this new trailer on my 4k tv and that fleet of star destroyers are different than all the others we've seen, they have red markings along the top of the hull lengthwise from front to rear, bet these are the ships carrying the red sith troopers...

I haven’t seen the trips in person but a few channels I watch on YouTube have mentioned this

I wonder if your right and these are the sith troopers but.. not under kylo Ren’s command but someone else’s..

I have not read this entire thread so someone else may have posted similar.

What if Rey does go to the dark side, feeling it’s the only way to bring down the Emperor and end the Sith once and for all. Then she fully switches to evil and Kylo turns her back to the good side.

God I hope not, even with a leap forward in time from the end of TLJ to this, seems like an awful lot to happen in one movie. I like the idea though........

When Rey has the dual saber, she has a ring on her left hand that looks a lot like Snoke's. The TLJ visual dictionary said it was made of obsidian with ancient runes engraved in it, & some have speculated that it originated on Mustafar.

A theory making the rounds now, based on current Canon, is that Palpatine learned how to transfer his consciousness, possibly using the ring as a vessel of transference, & that's all Snoke's role was, a temporary vessel.

In the D23 footage, it looks to me like she's standing in the Dagobah cave, so I was thinking 'vision', but the transference theory makes a lot of sense to me.

So is that what Rose did with the slave child/clearly a TV child actor on Canto Bight in TLJ? Give them a ring with her consciousness in it?

If Palpatine had a fleet THAT large available to him, why would he wait 30 years to use them? Wouldn't it have made more sense to use that fleet to wipe out the Rebellion during Return of the Jedi and be done with it? Unless this fleet has been rebuilt from the ashes of his fleet at Endor. Which I suppose is possible.

Plus doesn't his continued existence kind of undermine everything Luke and friends went through, even going so far as to undercut Anakin's redemption somewhat?

I just find his return out of place. Snoke was supposed to be the new baddie. Was it really necessary to bring the Emperor back?

Yes, because someone nixed Snoke from the story and Kylo is too inept to be the main villain.

[emoji23] Star Wars own website spoiled the "Dark Rey" in an article today...
They "altered" but the leak is out there... I will not spoil it here.

I just been away camping for a few days and was off the grid due to lack of signal. Upon returning to civilisation I would never have known a trailer had dropped if a friend hadnt messaged me about it.
Nothing popping up in any of my feeds, not tagged into anything on FB, unusual as I tend to get tagged for anything SW on there.

As much as I disliked TLJ, i like this trailer. It's really given me a stark reminder of how much better the OT was than this nonsense.

Its such a shame, I really enjoyed TFA and high hopes for the trilogy. Little to no interest now.
