I apologize if this brings politics in the mix..i certainly didnt mean to change the subject... but I have been seeing alot of it

But...I must be getting old.. and living under a rock... I actually had to google what SJW meant.. does that really exist? and theres warriors?
While you're at it you might as well Google "virtue signaling", MGTOW, TRP and MRA.

That would have been a lot funnier if they left out the SJW comment. That sure as hell wasnt around in 1980. I wasnt around in 1980, what did you old timers think when it was released in 1980 vs how revered it is now? Empire Strikes Back I mean.

I was 11 and struggled with the film but saw multiple times in theaters and learned to love it.

oh, and you know what? Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you, even those of you that irritate me to no end. :) We are all fans and I wouldn't want to argue endlessly with any one else. Peace and love. :)

Well you took a mighty big leap, there... and as it turns out, you're DEAD WRONG.

I didn't think it was necessary to call the person out that i was quoting (not wanting to start a rant) so instead I used *someone*.

View attachment 781584

Nevertheless you wasted at least two posts using *someone* as a jab at me, and as it turns out I wasn't even talking to or about you.

But then, that's what happens when *someone* makes an assumption and runs with it.

NOTE: that last time *someone* DID in fact refer to Mr. Webber

I apologise for the post.

Perhaps a little better judgement could be shown by you next time when refering to people as *you* instead of who it actually was. Especially in such an "emotional" and fluid thread.

Same here.. its nothing personal.... I just take it as a big dysfunctional family..that has a common.....well... what ever the hell we have

Merry Christmas!

I remember it seeing it vividly. Being taken was part of my birthday present and will always be blown away by the reaction to the first appearance of Darth Vader, the crowd went absolutely nuts including myself, which after ANH still amazes me. Great example of rock solid Characters I guess. Good one George.

Merry Christmas.

Ok...now this is going too far...

My wife just showed me a post that Snoke "could have" been the original youngling that Anakin confronted in ROTS, when he walked in the room with younglings.. and that the scares are from Anakin

And she agreed..........

Too far... just too far

Maybe that poster needs a "second" viewing, just to be sure. Thats a thing now isnt it?

I was 15 and I loved it, as did all of my friends. I don't recall anyone having a problem with it, other than having to wait 3 more years for a conclusion. I'm sure there were a few racist knuckle draggers who hated that Lando was black, but you didn't really hear much about it back then. That's much more prevalent today with social media, and the general coarseness of modern society. But there was also no "virtue signalling" about the casting of Billy Dee Williams either, no "we felt we needed more diversity" crap, he was just there. And he was great.

Also no one complaining about levitating rocks, because there were no levitating rocks in the first one. "The Force can't do that!"

I was kind of hoping Lando came back...where is he?

Well, saw it again hoping that experiencing it once already and knowing what was coming would allow me to see it from another perspective. Wrong, I am still sad and immediately came home and took a rape shower as I'm out another $18.00. I guess I'll start hanging out in the "Funny/cool pictures" thread, maybe that will lift my spirits.

You cant do it twice...then call it rape...lol.. I feel ya...

That might have been my favorite part of the movie. He was doing his impression of an MSE-6 "mouse droid", and even beeped out his own version of the sound.
Yeah, I noticed that. Gave me a good chuckle. But more than that, I remember the "Kojima" easter egg from TFA. And I'm pretty sure this is a "Snake in the cardboard box" reference.

This one was kind of funny, but many are not, and it’s an unfunny sentiment that’s been awfully widespread this week.
Toxic fan base is not nitpicking a movie in a forum that’s almost entirely about nitpicking movies.

toxic fan base is when you have one franchise that’s apparently so sacrosanct that you’re not allowed to nitpick it without being personally insulted for doing so.

Ive been following the thread, but ultimately decided to keep most of my thoughts on the movie to myself. This just doesn’t seem to be a place where people are open to that kind of discussion anymore.

Ok... now getting back to SW..

Not really. It's not a label proponents of a thing adopt, it's a derisive nickname that opponents of same said things hurl at the proponents.

Calling lightning out of the sky is no more or less a "strange new use" of the Force than the Emperor using Force Lightning. Or are you saying you're only OK with zero explanations for new Force powers as long as they are only in the original films? Because I missed the part where we got an explanation of the Emperor shooting lighting bolts out of his fingers.

Except the Emperor wasn’t a ‘ Force Ghost ‘ when he was zapping away was he !? . Reckon it was just another Rianism :facepalm

So, the important takeaway from the movie for me: My kid wants DJ's hat. I don't have the skills (check my threads for emphatic confirmation) Anyone out there making them yet? Other than Lucasfilm? And if I'm breaking the rules by posting this here, apologies and delete the post! I loved the movie. I get the criticism, but I still loved it.

It's just a way to give some ignorant folks an excuse to label and group to together a bunch of people. It's ridiculous what lengths some people go to attempt to anonymize and be overly critical.

Not that I recall . Though going from beings that were only heard , to being seen - static to moving about ( moving objects - Obi wan brushing aside some leaves / branches ) , to suddenly being able to completely obliterate forms ( not just any forms - but mystical / powerful ones ) in the ‘ physical world ‘ seems passing strange . As in why wasn’t there a compulsion to aid the resistance / rebellion against the FO earlier ?
