Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Aaaaand people say the new Sphero BB-8 is expensive. :rolleyes

That Is a pretty well engineered watch though, but yeah I wouldn't buy it.

I would rather have the situation were we haven't seen a lot of the film before we see it, then with most other big movies, where by the time the day comes you have already seen most of the big action set pieces.

Really? it seems like the TPM trailer came out like 6 months before its release...

Same with avengers, TRON, etc.

Maybe I just wasn't counting the days like I am now?

I pray to God that at no point through the movie I cringe at how cutsie poo bb8 acts etc.

I just want a real feel for the tone of the film.

I've already speant hundreds of dollars on merch etc... Give me the damn trailer already! LOL.

And Bryan I got the sphero BB8 day 1 as well.

I want to love this lil guy.

People referred to him as her a few times in the behind the scenes clips... Idk why, and I don't want Jeyl and co. Bombarding this thread but...

I actually kind of liked the idea of BB8 Being a "girl".

Though it would only be random and confusing... It just kinda fit the character. No idea why I feel that way.

Random pointless post. End of line...

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Episode_I:_The_Phantom_Menace#Release

The teaser trailer was released on selected screens accompanying Meet Joe Black on November 13, 1998, and media reported that people were paying full admission at theaters to see the trailer.[93] A second trailer was released on March 12, 1999, with the film Wing Commander.

The Phantom Menace was released in the US on 19 May, 1999.

Ugh, thanks for bringing that up...
I love the Wing Commander games, but I figured the movie was gonna be crap. I went to see it just for the Ep1 trailer.
****** that was a bad movie...

I remember the first TPM trailer very well but I don't recall ever seeing a second one?

I was thinking the rumor of a TFA trailer today was debunked?

On the subject of CGI - We have crossed the barrier of what looks real and what doesn't with Gollum in the Rings films. But the real problem is that our minds have mapped what looks real physically and what doesn't. If the really super rendered character does a move that is not right on in the world of real physics, then your mind will say, "Wait! what was that?". There are many moments in otherwise perfectly done CGI scenes that get that subconscious reaction, and it can take you out of the flow of the scene - just for a moment - but that moment will linger in your mind long enough for you to actually think about it, which impacts the scene in an adverse way. Examples are few, but painfully obvious. One is at the end of Jurassic Park when the characters are running out of the rotunda as the T-Rex attacks the Velociraptor and the T-Rex tail pass behind a background object for just, maybe, 3 frames. You say, no big deal, but your sense of what is right and normal flashes the red light, and you are off the track of the flow of the climax of the film, if for only a split second.

Clu in Tron Legacy. They were SO close, but there were things that were just not human looking about him. I think mainly how his mouth moved when he spoke. But they can always use the "well, he IS a computer generated program... he's not human" excuse...

Clu worked for me with the "video game" excuse, it was young Flynn that came across so weird.

What about "young" Tron? I thought he looked awesome.... even if they cheated with the image of the memory looking like it was viewed on a CRT monitor. I wish there had been more of Tron in that movie.
