Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

What about "young" Tron? I thought he looked awesome.... even if they cheated with the image of the memory looking like it was viewed on a CRT monitor. I wish there had been more of Tron in that movie.

I think it was the lighting with Flynn that really put me off, and how up close thy get with him. If it had been a bit more subtle/obscured it would go over better for me. I honestly forgot they even showed young Tron, but I just looked at a picture and I agree with your point about the monitor bolstering the believability of the effect.

Ugh, thanks for bringing that up...
I love the Wing Commander games, but I figured the movie was gonna be crap. I went to see it just for the Ep1 trailer.
****** that was a bad movie...

People complain that Lucas ruined the Prequels, but if you want to see an example of a creator ruining his own property with a movie, go see Wing Commander. Chris Roberts totally screwed it up compared to the games. If you want to see a good Wing Commander movie, play WC III.

Yeah I played Heart of the Tiger so many times over. I loved it. :)

I just watched a couple toy reviews on youtube... The new Hasbro x-wing toy is AWFUL!

Yes, some warped laser canons and issues with the Poe figure fitting in the cockpit. But I'm not supersede there are quality control issues coming out of China. China is in a bit of a pickle currently economically and corners are being cut.

I'm surprised Disney is allowing such poor quality merchandise to hit the shelves. I'll buy son the new Lego's, not sure about the Hasbro stuff now.

Clu in Tron Legacy. They were SO close, but there were things that were just not human looking about him. I think mainly how his mouth moved when he spoke. But they can always use the "well, he IS a computer generated program... he's not human" excuse...
I didn't think they were close at all. I remember sitting in the theater watching their CGI/cartoon version of a young Jeff Bridges thinking the whole time it was Alec Baldwin. The "computer generated program" excuse would have worked if they had animated all of the in-world actors' faces as they did with Bridges', but as it is it just isn't convincing.

Got my lil BB-8. I actually got it day one but had to wait till my bday to open it. Absolutely love him. One of the best toys ever made and sooo much fun. The price on the box is AU$. With our exchange rate and gst it works out right. Wish we were still $ for $ though. :)

I might pick up the phasma and troopers, but that's about it

I'm not big into toys but that Sphero BB-8 is kinda tempting.

You won't regret it. When set to patrol mode he just wanders around the house and just has sooo much character for such a small object. He's adorable. I can't wait to see what features are to be unlocked as the movie gets closer.

The only other things I've bought so far are some micro machines as I have some great nostalgia memories of past releases. :)

So the sears wish book came this morning. I was SUPER excited to see if there was a cool splash page with all the TFA toys and such. There was barely anything. The ONLY star wars stuff was the drone toys and one Rebels lego set.

THAT'S IT. Not a single mention of The force awakens in the entire catalog. Is sears not allowed to sell this stuff or something?

...and still no new Trailer.

Yep, and there is absolutely nothing to indicate when we are going to get it, its gone dead quiet, not even a rumour now.
As has been pointed out to me a huge amount of info about the film is already out there, mostly thanks to "Force Friday" . All the main and many of the secondary characters and their details, high def pictures of alot of the craft, key weapons, environments etc. There has never been a film release in my memory where an entire day was given just to the previewing, discussion of and then release of just merchandise connected to a film. But there is no doubt social media has hugely changed the way such things are managed and events like this promoted.
In truth when you look at it from that perspective there have been few films released where really we have seen and already know so much about whats going to be in it .The merchandise tie ins with this film have been vastly larger than even I expected it to be , I don't know what the actual sales figures are but it all looks to have been highly successful. Everybody wants a BB 8 it seems and thats three months before the damn film has even hit.
The only reason I can think of that they are sitting on it is for the marketing. The Xmas Toy buy starts almost as soon as half term starts and Halloween ends in the UK, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them release it mid october, just to boost interest and retail sales. Rebels is hitting on the 14th Octo, they may try with a tie in with or just after at or around the sixty day mark. They certainly seem to be setting up the cinema release dates with prebookings for seats with that in mind and looking for more than a few box office breaking records as well. Imax screens alone are booked solidly for four weeks by Disney in anticipation of demand.
But whilst I hugely admire their marketing strategy to recoup their outlay on the franchise purchase as swiftly as possible , as a SW fan IT IS starting to grate MASSIVELY that they have left the trailer release as late as this. Its not as if there is any other particular reason although I guess if they go with just one very late trailer, we won't get the other two varients as is normal these days and if prebooks are huge then we won't see so many TV spots.
Baring in mind "Star Wars Battlefront" will be hitting release 18th November and they are hoping to shift nine to ten million units of that by May16, thats going to be the next peak of interest particularly with the Battle of Jakku connection after the trailer . If they leave it too late towards the end of October then they are going to bump up against the Halo 5 release and that would steal the alot of thunder.
I'd just like to say DO IT NOW before you drive too many of us to the darkside in just simple frustration.

Yeah, espcially since we over here in Europe (at least in my country of Luxembourg) seem to have gotten the short end of the stick.
Force Friday? Most stores never heard of it! New merch? October maybe?
New SW books? Sorry, we'll stock them when the film is released. Apart from one TFA Lgfo set, I've yet to see a single new release in any store over here...
It's driving me NUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTSSSSS!

They still publish the Sears wish book?

Gosh, I remember drooling over that book every year while I was little - but we are talking around 1974-75. Kinf od assumed it has gone the way of most "printed and mailed" catalogs.

M

It showed up on our doorstep last year and you would not believe how much my daughter loved it! She drooled over it for months. It was heartwarming.

But this year, there isn't a single action figure. There's tons of barbies but no "boys toys"

Personally, I think they should take a cue here and not even bother with another trailer until the movie comes out. Our appetite is wet enough.

I wouldn't mind not getting another trailer, if it meant getting the whole friggin' movie earlier. Right now would be okay in my book...
