Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Lucas didn't create Star Wars alone. What I am trying to say is that ownership shouldn't entitle you to manipulate, or effectively erase someone elses contribution to society. It's why the National Film Registry was created.

The original film won Academy Awards for sound & for Ben Burtt's sound effects, the last release had it's soundtrack completely remixed by Matthew Wood, how does that stand now for those artists that earned the awards,.....the film also obviously won awards for special effects a lot of which was updated with CG

Wonder if JJ is going to follow the same design lineage as the prior ones, or go New Trek on it....

From what I've read, it sounds like he is looking to return to the roots of the original trilogy. Who knows, but that's what I've read.

Time travel was utilized throughout Trek, so it wasn't too awkward, at least for me. It would feel extremely foreign in Star Wars.

I think one day they will do a full reboot. probably some time after Episode IX.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Fingers are crossed (and will be continually so) until I see it in the theatre. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

For man that just a few posts ago said that, "You're entitled to your opinion." you seem to be pretty intolerate of others. I'm not sure you realize how many of your posts come across as angry and juvenile. It's okay to be passionate about something and still be civil about it. I've never in my adult life heard someone say, "Get a grip and get over yourself." Kinda seems like a pot and kettle situation.

Now on to the issues. George is a great idea and creative a man, but his early successes were not his alone. Yes he had the idea, but without the likes of Ralph McQuarrie, Gary Kurtz, his ex-wife, and others his vision would have failed. It was the people like Kurtz who would actually tell him no that made Star Wars successful. There's a reason that the prequels don't feel like Star Wars and it's not because we grew up. It's because Lucas had too much money, too much tech, and no one telling him no. By his own admission he rushed Anakin's fall, and spent too much time on the political side.

He gave the the ideas for VII, VIII, IX. Great. That's what he's good with. Indy four his failing. Ford and Speilberg were so desperate to make the film they went with George's idea that neither ok them wanted to do.
Physician heal thyself.

When someone claims "George spit..." and makes other claims (whether figuratively or literally)... that's making a claim not stating an opinion. As I said earlier... some folks need to get a grip and stop making whiny assumptions.

Star Wars was owned by Lucas - it was his baby, his creation. Yes, others helped him. Do I like that there's not a Blu-Ray quality version of the originals Star Wars movies? Do I like that Greedo shot in the Cantina? No. Am I jumping up and down behind my computer about it? No. Am I calling Lucas names and saying he's spitting on people about it? No.

Let's get back to talking about Episode 7.

- - - Updated - - -

Lucas altering the original trilogy is the same as when Ted Turner started colorizing movies. He BOUGHT them, so he OWNED them, and thought that entitled him to do whatever he wanted to them.
Not even close.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

So it's okay to whine as long as it's a "fact"? Maybe just agree to disagree or even go so far as to not post. It's okay if they think differently. The sun will still come up tomorrow. Sometime enough really is enough.

Yes let's continue to talk about episode VII. Oh wait. There's nothing to talk about right now. Guess we can lock this thread until some news comes out.

LOL, you're a funny boy.

There's plenty to talk about.
Apparently, Merry might be in Episode 7... perhaps it's been mentioned, but lost on attacks on Lucas and the prequels.

See what happens when you play the semantics game and lose? You have to result to passive aggressive comments that don't defend your position.

I know what it is now. It's so clear. You admit to being a sock puppet. You must be Rick McCallum. Only he would he would defend something with such furor.

I like the movie Charlie's Angels. But I know it's bad and can accept it. It doesn't change my feelings and I can still be friends with those that don't like it. I don't need to insult them, talk down to them, or convince them that I'm right and they are so wrong it's pathetic.

Perhaps there's a New Years resolution in here somewhere for ya.

"This bickering is pointless!" All this will stop as soon as we have some more tangible info concerning Ep. VII
Disney needs to lift the veil a tiny bit, soon....

You guys are all wrong. Hayden Christensen is the greatest method actor since the Ents in Lord of The Rings.

Natalie Portman played the greatest cradle robber since Only God Forgive's Kristin Scott Thomas.

Happy New Year!

Call it confidence because I don't need defending. Move on.

I know what it is now. It's so clear. You admit to being a sock puppet. You must be Rick McCallum. Only he would he would defend something with such furor.
You figured me out.

Actually, if I were McCallum wouldn't I be ticked because of his rumored forced retirement and non-involvement in VII?

Again... physician heal thyself. Take a dose of your own medicine, stop dragging me into a non-existent fight and stop being a troll.

I'm done... tag me, quote me all you want. The points been made, the position doesn't need defending.

I believe you've said before, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you're not much into the EU, but they actually did one pretty good time travel story called Crosscurrent. The one guy got thrown 5000 years into the future by an explosion in hyperspace. I'm not sure it would work as a movie, but it was quite interesting as a novel.

No it won't. Disney will make announcements, and people will argue the story, or the casting, or the wardrobe(s), or the ships, or whatever, simply because everyone has their own idea about what Star Wars is or should be (myself included), and if Disney, Lucasfilm, J.J. Abrams, and/or whoever, deviates from that, someone won't be happy. At this point, it's unavoidable. And I'm not trying to say that's a good thing or a bad thing, merely that it is what it is; such is the nature of devoted fandom.
