Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'd love to see them delve into some of the "Legacy of the Force" series stuff.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I wonder if, since Disney has already tested the technology used in Tron Legacy, if it's improved even further in realism, if they'd explore doing what they did with Jeff Bridges.

I know there were a gob of parts that wasn't quite there, but man there were some other shots that were downright freaky real looking. With how much better advancements are going with each passing year I wonder if they might do some kind of hybrid process like this with the actors if they got most the main cast back?

I'd be cool with it if it was pulled off VERY well....

:eek:eek:eek

:lol

Oh man, can you imagine?

singing: Caaaan yoooo uh-mageen..
Ah werld with Rahndeh Noomuhn scoring Stehr Wahrs.....
Those crazee ali-uhns an rohbots...

As for John Williams...the only way I can see that happening is if Disney actually makes a 2015 release date, shoots live action back to back, and presents Williams with a workprint assembled from that and anmimatics for the whole trilogy. Otherwise, we'll see lots and lots of reuse of the existing 12 hours of music with some garbage music editing. You know, like RotS.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but surely this means that Spielberg can finally direct a Star Wars movie.

According to the official site, he's already had lunch with Kathleen Kennedy about it. Sounds like 'no', as he's recently announced no more action movies for him.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

They won't be making them for the "fans" you are referring to. This will be for a whole new generation.

If they can get them to stop texting in the theater long enough for their tiny attention spans to notice the movie. :lol I'll just be impressed if they release the original unmodified trilogy. This just means a ton of disney crap with starwars stamped on it.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Personally, the only one I can currently think of that has John Williams range, but has a very different style, is Howard Shore.

No... it sucked in Tron, it'll suck in any other movie.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Thank God if that's true (not adapting the EU novels). Why in the world would we want more SW stories where we know the outcome? Part of the fun is that for the first time since 1983, the future of the storylines is way open, not boxed in like the prequels. That fertility for speculation and wonder is what makes it exciting.

Really, was Heir to the Empire that great? Really? I think it's well regarded now because of 20 year nostalgia, and because we were so hungry for any SW at the time. But if that storyline came from the pen of Lucas today, he'd be burned at the stake. I remember the characters from Zahn's books, but I honestly cannot recall much of anything exciting happening.

We can do better than Zahn. Aim high, people.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

In a different spin.....what would be some legit plot options going forward?

-1-6 had the big baddy being the emperor/empire - which is gone.
-Supposedly Luke is the obi-wan character from E4. So 30ish years have passed.

Can you just insert a bad guy heretofore unheard of bad guy and go on?

30 years later, I can't imagine the remains of the Empire being relevant unless the opening scrawl says something like immediately after the battle of endor, almost all vestiges of the empire vanished or something.

I'd think 30 years later you might be having civil war type issues or lots of planets wanting out, not wanting republic or jedi protection.

You know there'll be the inevitable student of luke's succumbing to the dark side...

But where can they go? Or where should they go?

Yeah, I'm torn between the two. Part of me totally agrees with your statement, and wants something new and unknown. The other part of me just wants to see all of those awesome moments from the EU up on the big screen.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I would have loved to see Thrawn realised on screen, but am totally unsurprised that it won't happen. I really am curious to see what they do. Also, please, please, live action TV series...please!
