Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Yeah I've been cautiously optimistic and have been trying to keep my own hype in check but early reviews and impressions seem to indicate it's incredible...

SO relieved to see positive hype on this! Cautious optimism totally annihilated. I'm in a rabid fan fugue state, essentially :lol

I know the mantra for this film has been "Don't go in too hyped, or it won't live up to your expectations", but with everything we've seen so far (behind the scenes, trailers, interviews, etc), you just KNOW this is going to be a phenomenal film.

We'll get more concrete reviews tomorrow and they will tell the tale. I remember a few early reviewers liking it (ie: AICN, iirc) but I don't at all recall TPM reviews being overwhelmingly positive. I remember the concensus being pretty middling.

The early reactions/reviews to The Phantom Menace were overwhelmingly positive, too. Just keep that in mind. ;)

I'm sure a lot of the hype played into it as well, but I don't think there was nearly the amount of cynicism going into this film as TPM (thanks to the prequels).

Either way...we have a new Star Wars film...this week. That's still unbelievable to say out loud!

Those reactions look to be about 95% overwhelmingly positive, 5% "it was good but had x y and z issues". Definitely can't please everyone, but this definitely gives me super high hopes.

Awesome words by KK. This really is the beginning of something amazing.

Holy cow....a new Star Wars movie ever year, plus countless games/shows for the foreseeable future. It's a good time to be a fan.

That's not a bad thing. You can't pleas everyone all of the time! Haha. I just can't wait for Thursday

Not clicking any links. I guess, since the premier has happened, it's time to drop out of the SW discussion threads here & at MacrossWorld.
4 more days until the wife and I check it out!

See you on the other side!

Stay off Facebook, stay off Reddit. If Game of Thrones/The Walking Dead is any indication, some "friends" on our feeds don't understand the concept of spoilers.

One of the only guys I feel can be trusted on reviews said thusly (no spoilers):

"JJ Did it"

- Patton Oswalt.

PATTON! This guy would pull no punches... he's got hard nerd cred. He dedicated 15 minutes of his old routine to his dissapointment with the prequels...

He also said stay off the net... it will ruin surprises...

well Patton also raved about Punisher War Zone.

Also not a fan of reviews from celebrities and celebrity geeks, sometimes they can like anything even when its not good, kind of like Kevin Smith. I'll wait to watch it

No kidding- as far as we know, Abrams and Oswalt are next door neighbors and Patton owes him money. No way to know the connections there.

But I hope he's right...

Patton's popularity is based on being a nerd king. If he praises a crap movie cuz he's owed money, he will never hear the end of it.

For me this movie doesn't need to be the second coming, I just want to have as much fun during this flick as I did with, say, Krampus, which I loved.
