Qui-Gon Jinn stopped aging when he died in TPM. Liam Neeson is in good shape for his age but he's still visibly much older. The difference would be nearly 20 years by the time they rolled cameras on any new QGJ movie.


If they did a QGJ movie they might just recast it with a young guy.

Well you can count on them covering two time lines:

First between EpIII and EpIV Rouge Squadron is doing this but I'd expect more.

Then we have the time between EpVI and VII I'm sure a lot happened between Endor and now,some of it not at all pleasant I'm sure.

However when they get that done I hope to see something from when all this started,back at the start of the Republic,the Jedi,the Sith and such maybe show the Sith and Jedi branching from a common beginning perhaps a feud between siblings becoming two separate ideals.

One amazing thing with SW is it's such a huge sandbox to mess around in.

I'm in the camp of not visiting the time frames we know. Visit what we don't know. The timeline goes back to what? 3000+ years prior to ANH, plus it can extend, essentially forever. That's a whole lot of room to work with.

If you want to do something else, do it, but you keep the universe and choose a different time. Go back the advent of the Jedi/Sith....what exactly did Palpatine want revenge for? How was the republic forged originally? Etc...there's lots of things untapped.

This is very much my thinking as well.
I believe the brave choice would have been to do such a thing. In fact it is the correct choice.
The films are called "Star WarS".. .plural, as in more than one war.
We look at our actual Earth human history and there are so many wars spread out over thousands of years.
Battlegrounds and armies of the past echo through history and we still speak of King Leonides and lessons taught millennia later.
The original trilogy could have been like our civil war. In fact the opening crawl calls it a period of civil war. Leaping forward hundreds of years or even a thousand,
there could be a galactic WWI and WWII so to speak. Utterly new situations. Perhaps another galaxy invading the long restored republic.
I think that they are trapped by fan service and crowd pleasing for now, low risk assured money makers. They should take some risk.

Yep. The recent book "Smuggler's Run", which has the main story set between IV and V, features a Prologue and Epilogue set right before TFA. There, we have Han sitting in a cantina on an unnamed planet (possibly Jakku?) telling a story about the Falcon, and it seemed to me as if he was musing about days gone by. My guess is he lost it some way or another, and we'll learn why and how in TFA. In the book's pro- and epilogue, there's also talk of Guavian enforcers and Kanji Club gang members iirc, so they probably play a part in the loss or retrieval of the ship.

I love the idea that he hasn't had the falcon for all these years. But I PRAY that he doesn't get it back by some nonsensical coincidence (Like NuKirk running into OldSpock on a frozen planet)

We may see him drive it for a bit in ep.7, but I think it's going to Rey.
