Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Y'know, in that shot of Kylo with the other knights, he's the only one wielding a lightsaber. The others all seem to have some sort of staff type weapon. Similar to what Daisy Ridley's character uses. Wonder if there's a connection.

(if you know, please dont post spoilers in here. I've purposely been staying out of the spoiler thread)

no spoiler tags required because this can be seen in the trailer

looks like the knight to the far right is holding a rifle with blue lights on it, the knight to the far left has gauntlets with some kind of switch blade thing behind his arms, kinda like the new shredder in the turtles movie

Watched the trailer for the, uh, don't know stopped counting-eth time :)

Anyhow, it had the poster shown after wards and maybe it was mentioned before, but there may be some allusion there. There's definitely a red side (dark side) and a blue side (light side/good guys). Daisy's staff is dead on with the red blade of Kylo's saber and her head is the only thing that crosses in the red half of the poster. Is she going to go dark side with finn on the light for a big finale' in 9? Or am I reading too much into it. Probably the latter, but they compose these things for a reason, well, usually anyhow :) JJ seems to have been pretty deliberate in everything he's done so far.

Okay looks amazing,I like how it feels like there was a cold war after ROTJ and the Rebels didn't just walk off into the sunset as winners, looks like they had more of a fight after then anything.

Oh and I'll be in LA traveling with mom so...I'll get to see it a few days after opening,no way in hell I'll go first day it'll be too crazy.

I have nothing to add other than... WOW!

EDIT: However... the shot of Kylo in front of window, is that a probe droid just outside on the right or a reflection?

Having time to reflect, I really loved the other trailers but this one left me feeling a broader range of emotions, and yes a slight lump in my throat. It seems to have a certain haunting quality to it (the music is incredible) and I think there is a noticeable undercurrent of dread, like there are some bad things coming to our heroes. The shot of Rey crying and the mass of fur(?) in the foreground make me very nervous about the fate of Han and Chewie. I have my suspicions but man that is gonna smart if my suspicions are correct.

Also, geeked a bit seeing a ruined Lambda shuttle and pieces of OT era TIE fighters in the hangar shot. Lol

Well guys and gals face the fact that one of the original cast is gonna buy the farm this time around-however I can see it,if it is Han then...ask yourself did you ever see that guy going peacefully? I always thought he'd go out doing something crazy.

I hope we get to see some die-hard support for the Empire going back to a new hope, some worlds who would die for it as they had more prosperity under them then the Republic and want to stay that way,see some Stormtroopers who are generational.

And I hope we see the force do something crazy, something neither Kylo or Luke see coming.

I'm guessing Kylo's mask is built from previous Sith armor parts? The close up in the new trailer makes it look like the mouth part that's all beat up is kit bashed to the other main piece.

ignore all these doodles, knight on the right is holding a rifle.. and the long sword is the knight in the backgrounds leg... im a idiot
I think all of them have outfits that resemble Kylo Ren's more or less. The man on the left has his head facing towards Kylo Ren.
Edit: I was wrong. People have analysed the picture and confirmed that it is a mandalorian helmet.
The "long sword" is just the foot of the guy standing behind them though.

I'm just glad J.J gave up Star Trek 3 so he could come and make Star Trek 3.
Sorry guys I just hate the film making style.
With all the money Disney has you would think they could afford to buy him a dolly and camera instead of shooting everything with cell phones.

That said I think there are some good moments to look forward to.

Tickets sites are crashing all over the net... this may the first time since ESB I'll miss... do I dare say it... opening day.

I hang my head and weep... I need a moment

There is still hope. My buddy works at a theater... he says they are all given a certain amount of tickets to sell... but come opening night, like the week before, they can add shows, add times, and sell more.

so keep your eyes open for that.

Well it took along time for us to get here but in that final trailer I think they managed to deliver on the promise they made to all the Star Wars fans at the very beginnning. To bring the franchise back to the way so many of us wanted it to be.
I've spent about half an hour just watching and pausing this to look at the scenes that have the biggest impact on me (which pretty much seems to be the whole of it).
The largest of all is just how natural it all looks. From the dust hanging in the air in Reys exploration of the SD to BB8 rolling after her across the desert like a faithful volleyball and the distant climbing roar of a starship launching, it all simply ,immediately and perfectly LOOKS like a SW movie.
Then the effects shots. Crisp, clean and beautifully uncluttered instead of the fearful cramming all too much onto the screen just because they could do so. Less is so much more. The X wing/Tie fighter shots over the SKbase as it opens (at least I think it looks like that) took me back nearly forty years in a heartbeat. Then the battle over the lake as they roar towards it with the water fountaining behind them. It just makes it seem just so much more real and viscerally believable .
All the new threats. That firey plasma boiling across the view port of the SD. Forests ripped apart. Smoking ruins and Kylo Ren (and mates) standing in the rain ( who are they going to confront?) and the expressions of fear and pain on our heroes. No wonder this is going to be a 13PG.
The film score. Deep, powerful, resonate and wonderfully evocative. John Williams.
And finally. Leia and Han in that embrace. I can feel Vaders fingers on my throat every time I watch it. I couldn't tell you why but when a glimpse of a film does that to you know they've got it right.
Phoenix like Star Wars rises from the ashes of a dying franchise to a glorious rebirth.
Thank you George for selling it, Disney for buying it and Lucasfilm, JJ and team for make it.
Two months and counting!!!
