Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I don't really see how the statement exactly changes things. It still remains to be seen what's in and what's out. And I find it very hard to believe that they'll somehow work in a lot of the post-ROTJ EU stuff into a timeline with the original three in the new films.

I'd expect this means more that future spin-offs/EU stuff will be considered entirely canonical, and that the ridiculous hierarchy of canonicity (S-Canon, G-Canon, Blah-Canon, Yadda-Canon) will be done away with. Some stuff will be in, some stuff will be out, and Disney will pick and choose from the existing material what will count moving forward. For the new material, though, everything will be in and will count.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, I agree Dan, this feels like an effort to feb out the EU, which is the correct creative instinct.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

and lucasfilm merchandising can quell all our handwringing of it's cononicity.

I really hope that Disney really protects this brand and also works to expand it's universe even more. I think a Boba movie could be cool. I think if done properly a version of the first Force Unleashed game could be a good movie as the basic story line was solid IMHO.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm really hoping, given the generational span of these movies, that Disney opens an entire theme park area dedicated to nothing but Star Wars. The stuff they have now is pretty beat. That Star Tours ride makes me nauseus. The kiddie Jedi Academy is kind of cool. Other than that it's just the ATAT head and the speeder bike thing you can take a picture on, right?

That's about the size of it for now. They have updated Star Tours to 3D and multiple experiences. My nephew did the Jedi Academy and it was fun and cute. Just be sure to sign up early if you have a little one that wants to do it. But I am with you I hope that they open up the Star Wars world a bit at the park. There is a lot of potential there.

There is a lot of potential there.

Insane potential.
I'd be happy just sitting on a round and round ride like the flying Dumbo elephants, but on scaled down X-Wings and Tie Fighters.

How about "It's a Small Galaxy... far far away". Tour the different systems in your Falcon or Naboo cruiser. Each system has a diarama with animatronics. Go a step further and wear special glasses so you can have projected characters or laser blasts. Animatronic Tusken Raiderson Tattoine, Yoda and Dagoba, Ewoks on Endor...

Do a thing like the Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror except you're touring the Death Star. Have a compactor room, the docking bay as the Falcon is being tractor beamed in... watch a planet get blown up.

Kids ride like the Toy Story shooter ride... except shooting Star Wars related stuff.

I'm just reinventing the wheel with all this, but there are so many ways to make a full-scale park...
