Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

My problem with that logic would be that chewbacca was killed off in the books prior to 30 years after ROTJ which is when the movies are going to take place. That'd mean no chewy in the movies, not even a cameo, and also pretty much stating the death.

I just don't see 7-9 respecting the books storylines much at all simply due to the fact it severely restricts the writer(s) for 7-9. It's one thing to account for what happened in 1-6, it's quite another to account for what happened in 1-6 and another 100 books.

I don't see the EU as anything more than licensed fan fiction. It's fun and a lot of it was really good writing and storytelling, but I don't see GL being beholden to it in any way.

:thumbsup The EU was good for whetting the appetite in the dry years of Star Wars, but it was never intended as canon by GL himself and I hope the new story treatments steer clear of it entirely.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I really doubt Fett will be in the new movie, it would confuse the hell out of the audience unless they explained it really well.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

its funny how long ago did ford say he hated the solo role and he would never play that role again? he said he felt he should of been killed off? its all about the $$$$! in his case for this movie it will be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! lmao

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

This IS great news!!!!

BBC News - Star Wars job goes to Toy Story 3 writer

I thought that Toystory3 was one of only two film trilogies I've ever seen where the third story was the best of all of them and as a conclusion to the series was absolutely top.
Best of all the guy is an absolute fan of the original SW. Now if they can get Brad Bird to direct my journey to the lightside will be complete.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Not surprised as I've had a few issues with the way the PC has been performing which took me a few days and alot of head scratching to solve.

I watched bits and pieces of Little Miss Sunshine - wasn't that impressed, one of those films that seemed to think it was smarter than it was. But I hear Toy Story 3 was a real tear jerker, that's got to be a good sign for SW7.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I know it will never happen, but I always hoped they would reboot it back in the Old Republic Days. So many stories you could tell. An army of Jedi that acted like awesome Knights and weren't afraid to fight and an Army of truely evil and ruthless Sith. Pure evil! MY huge wish would be tell the story of the Rule of Two. Show us a bad ass like Bane. Never happen, but enough with the old story line. If you are going to give it new life, then give it a truely new life, characters and feel.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I wouldn't mind seeing Luke, Han, and Leia in the movie, but I hope the movie isn't about them. I hope there are new main characters and they are side characters, a little more than just a cameo, but not the center of attention.

Could easily work for off-shoot Star Wars movies.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I just don't get what folks expect from a movie featuring the cast from the original films. Like, really, what stories do you want told? What stories do you think would be good that wouldn't seem like rehashed BS? Certainly of the EU era there's very little that I've seen that would make for a good story. You can override that, but honestly, I think a simple "And they lived happily ever after" is good enough for me with these characters. The New Republic and the Jedi thrived, and the story moved on.

I get that folks want to recapture the magic of the old days. what I don't get is why they think that's actually possible. Have we not learned our lesson on this? Or is it that people can't stretch their imaginations to a point where they can conceive of a cool story that DOESN'T involve these characters?

I just would think that after films like Blues Brothers 2000, Alien Resurrection, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, or hell even More American Graffiti or Pirates 4 that folks would have learned sometimes it's best to let your heroes just ride off into the sunset instead of continually saying "And then what happened?"

You know what happened? They died. That's what happened. Luke died. Leia died. Han died. Chewie died. Their kids all died. The droids were deactivated. Now let's tell a new story.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Seeing Harrison Ford in KOTCS tells me I don't want the original cast for SW7. I want a movie set in the same galaxy, but their story has been told. I want something NEW!
