Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The new film is actually going to be called Episode VII: The Number of the Beast
hence the red paper
:lol

I thought it was going to be called "Episode VII: The Widow Maker", in reference to whatever it is that's supposed to kill off Han Solo, therefore
making Harrison Ford happy along with all the others who don't think he's supposed to be in the movie to begin with...:p

This isn't meant to be a criticism of you, but it's precisely because of the "Han needs to die!" kind of thinking (among other issues) that I DON'T want the original heroes in these films. I mean, I know that ship has sailed, but still.

I think killing the characters on screen would be a mistake. If you're going to go the route of "so and so is dead" then do it (ugh) like they did in KOTCS. Or even better and just have a "Hey, whatever happened to Han?" "I dunno, he just flew off one day". That way the audience can end his story however they want.

Edit: With the exception of Luke. I think you could kill him on screen and get away with it after he's "passed the torch".

Right, I agree. I think including them at all is silly, but we've discussed this. Luke fits, the rest, to me, have no purpose in the new stories outside of "'MEMBA THEM?!" callback material. Uh oh! Han's got.....A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Good times....

:rolleyes

But worse than that is the potential for someone to do something "daring" like they did during the Vong books and kill off one of the original heroes just to be gritty/dark/daring/whatever. Because now it's "Not your daddy's Star Wars."

No worries. :) The comment was made tongue-in-cheek and aimed at no one in particular. Honestly, opinions and arguments aside, I can live with
Episode VII either with or without any original cast. I'll just be glad to see Star Wars in the post-OT era.

Now this^ I can live without...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I'm still want Lando. If you are gonna have Ford, Hamill, and Fisher, might as well have Billy Dee Williams.

I see what you're saying, but I'm of the mind that "who says all these characters actually stayed in touch?". Luke and Leia would be a given considering they're family, but I'm not so sure Leia and Han would have stayed together, or if Lando stuck around either. As I've said in previous posts, I don't want
to expose myself to spoilers, but the cast of characters I'd really like to know just to end the speculation...

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Lando I can see more than Han. He's got an administrative streak to him so he'd be looking for some authority in a post Empire galaxy IMHO.

I think Luke and Leia should have a prominent parts in Episode VII, smaller supporting role for Han, but would be nice to see at least a cameo for Lando. I think the stars of the next one should be the next generation.

I hope, if they're all there, that the chemistry works well again. I'd LOVE to have an atmosphere like "Empire" again.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Lando? A politician? Hmmmm... I'd have to think on that one a while.

Leia, though, most definitely. Leave her out of the Jedi arena. She's been steeped in politics from hear earliest days and I really can't see her evolving any other way.

I'd say yes. Charismatic and when we first see him he's the owner and administrator of a "city". He's clearly a person with administrative experience so I'd see his route being less military and more political. Leia is definitely a politician, Luke trains new Jedi, Han buggers off and does his own thing and Chewie follows.

I'd have thought him back in the administrative business at Cloud City, or some other venture of that kind. But politics would be a possibility, I guess. I'm with you on the other destinies, though! :thumbsup
