Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

The Angel thing? .. well I agree it sounds corny, but if I were to be picky I’d point out that the concept of Angels isn’t unique to Christianity or Catholicism anyway, so perhaps some Tatooinians or whatever they call themselves also have a similar belief?
Just to expand on this, the "angel thing" expands way past Christianity and has come to mean many celestial-type beings in various religions and myths. As one might also assume that the Star Wars worlds aren't necessarily speaking English - an appropriate English word might be used.

But, it's the Star Wars prequels - people like to rag on them and 9 times out of 10 very similar arguments can be made on the OT, too.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

What exactly was it about racing pods that required "Jedi reflexes" to begin with? What was it that as soooooo difficult that yippee boy was the only human who could do it? A lap race across mostly open desert in what amounts to a jet car....wow.

The aliens had brains that can react faster, which is why Anakin was the only human able to do it. It's kind of hard to react to obstacles at 947kph.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

But the planet falls under direct occupation at the start of the film don't forget, with troops and hardware in the streets -so I suppose food and power production etc is being controlled on the ground by the Trade Federation....

I'm talking about prior to the TF landing. :)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Just fast forward to the Jango Fett Obi Wan fight and then the Clone drop ships, it makes for a much better viewing.

I find the Jango/Obi fight to be overproduced myself, and when the clones arrive it's seizure inducing. :lol

There are two parts of that film I love and they combine to a total of about 60 seconds. The brief moment where Anakin is fighting with two sabers (if that had lasted a little longer it would have been AWESOME) and the scene right at the end where Palpatine is looking over the ships to the Imperial March.

Yep. The only good parts of the PT are the Darth Maul fight sequence, Palps overlooking the boarding of the ships to the Imperial March and the last 2 minutes of Ep. 3

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

That Lars homestead! :facepalm such a disappointment compared to the iconic shot in Star Wars. I almost :sick when I saw that. A horrible attempt to tie-in to the OT. The best way to get a desert look is to actually go to the desert. ;) :lol

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I used the clone battle at the end of AOTC to demonstrate surround sound for folks. Outside of that, I didn't have much use for the film. It's rather incoherent. It's less annoying than TPM, but it's less coherent. Actually that lack of coherence kind of carries over into ROTS. As films, the PT flicks just don't really work that well.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Oh, be a sport! :)

I try to be, I really do. But the complete lack of physics (and overall sense) in the Coruscant chase pulls me out of it and the Lars homestead seemed like was just trying to scream "See? Just like the Star Wars you like!"

My biggest issue with the PT is that there's a lot of flash and busyness just for the sake of flash and busyness. I don't hate them, but I don't like them.

I understand, really. I'm just yanking your crank. :) No one's a worse critic of the prequels than me.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

:lol

Nah, I don't worry about them. The SE on the other hand... That bugs the **** out of me.

Strangely enough, I have more patience for the SE than the prequels. But since Ep.VII is the star of this thread, I'm SURE that it'll set us both straight with Star Wars again. ;)
